i love you Joe, but fix your understanding of "begs the question," at 10:50. you meant to say "raises the question," whereas "begging the question" refers to the rhetorical fallacy of basing one's argument upon the very premise one is arguing. this misuse is a common mistake, and i prefer that you not sound as if you are common.

In classical rhetoric and logic, begging the question or assuming the conclusion (Latin: petītiō principiī) is an informal fallacy that occurs when an argument's premises assume the truth of the conclusion. Historically, begging the question refers to a fault in a dialectical argument in which the speaker assumes some premise that has not been demonstrated to be true. In modern usage, it has come to refer to an argument in which the premises assume the conclusion without supporting it. This makes it more or less synonymous with circular reasoning.

I only just became acquainted with Joe Lycett and he is my new favorite person. I love him so much and I wish there were more like him in the world!

“I think the common thread in my sexuality is everyone that I’m attracted to is not attracted to me.” American but I’ve watched a lot of British comedy panel shows and chat shows to get myself through three and a half years. If you noticed to correlation with the approximate arrival of COVID-19 in the West, give yourself five marks. 😉 I’ve seen Joe Lycett on more than once on several of them, my favorite of his appearances were on QI and The Graham Norton Show. I thought he was smart and funny. I liked him, not the least because though he got in some zingers, there was nothing mean-spirited about him. As a school bullying survivor, that means a lot to me. Since watching him here, he is now on my list of favorite humans. I do want to give this little warning though: Watching Joe Lycett while holding an open, nearly full canister of coffee may be hazardous to your kitchen floor. 😁

He‘s sympathic, I just don‘t agree with all these new made up things I do respect trans people, who didn‘t feel good in their skin, I respect gays and lesbians, everybody can decide for their own life and body The things with whom I don‘t agree and really hate about our society saying there are MORE than to genders, and letting stupid demonic brainwashed people who shout „we are here we are queer we re coming for your children“ talk and influence our children !! Exactly those people preach peace and love but are one of the most aggressive ones themselfes

He irked me too 😂😅there might be issues to face around the world, but the LGBTQ+ community in the uk has the same rights as the rest of us, so isn't it time to stop all the celebrating, all the preening, all the shouty demands ??? 😂😂 great performance Joe 👏

Watching this and then James McAster on trans issues - the difference in class between the two comedians is stark. Joe distills transphobia on to his mum's friend Linda and causes me to be sympathetic to trans people, James makes me feel attacked and makes me transphobic.

I don’t think you watched the rest of the James Acaster special, i presume you’re talking about cold lasagne hate myself 1999, at the end it becomes clear his initial aggressiveness towards “old people and chrizzos” is itself a bit - it’s a joke, and he thanks the christians and old people in the audience. If you meant the jokes on ricky gervais then eh i sort of think those stand

yeah. the rest of society decided to politicise our existances. we cant be apolitical. the reason u rarely see older gay people is because politicians decided we needed to be exterminated, so they deliberately cut funding and destroyed research trying to help with the aids crisis.

It's almost like the aquisition of human rights for groups that have been historically denied those rights is political or something. Crazy. The fuck did you think Pride was about?
