Thank you. My mom passed away and I have this song on my mind. She would sing this song

Thank you for sharing about your Mom. My condolences. So glad we were able to post this song she liked to sing and that you have been able to listen to it. Music is such an important part of our memories.

@@kpvcollectionare you actually one of the people that filmed this? If so then thats actually really cool. Thank you for uploading these. It’s awesome that there are footage of my little island as far back as the late 60s to early 70s. I would like to ask just a few more questions after I watch all the videos if thats alright.
@kpvcollection3 ай бұрын
@@chakyitsmydog4298 Yes, my husband and I took the photographs. We also made an audio tape for our parents about our trip. A few years ago, I combined the audio tape and the photos to make a video story to share. I was hesitant to share the story, because I wanted to respect people's privacy. However, people advised me that families would not have photos and audio from the 60's and would want to see this. Not like now when people record on their phones! I am happy to try and answer questions, but I turn 80-years-old in October and may not remember. You can use my email if you want [email protected]. Thanks for your encouraging words.

Anyone here know Joe Tamag?
@Lazarov_Tweevles2 ай бұрын
I knew Joe back in the 80s. He would wear just a pair of shorts and flip flops, which was cool, considering that he basically owned the port, a hotel, a bus service etc. I have no idea what became of him.

Yes, he was on Molokai as an instructor and the choreographer for the island. An infectious grin and hearty laugh. I served 1966-68 Joe Tillotson

It is interesting to hear you wonder about what Udot will be like in the future...as a recently returned volunteer serving in Chuuk/Truk lagoon, it seems the islands (with maybe the exception of Moen/Weno) have largely stayed the same. Limited development and electricity, the stores still being little shacks alongside the road, the lush green vegetation, wide starry skies at night. The people's behavior is similar too; the generosity, the singing, the little children wandering everywhere, the girls who can make banana leaf plates very quickly. Your experience of nearly 60 years ago was not too far off from what I would say about my experience today!

I somehow came to this video. Happily, so, I will say. I was in Chuuk (Truk) as a young teen and even spent a month or so in the summer of 1967 on Udot with the language instructors from the Marianas. Thank you for sharing this and your other videos.

Thank you for your comment. I so very much appreciate knowing you liked the video. I am trying to make a list everyone who was involved with PC in the Marianas (1967-77). Having trouble getting the names of staff & trainers. If you can remember the names of any of the Marianas trainers (or others) please send to me at <[email protected]>. Plans have started for a PC reunion in 2025 on Saipan, Rota & Tinian.

Yes, you can email me, Kit Porter Van Meter, at <[email protected]>. You can also look at other KZbin stories. Also, my website has lots of digitized documents related to Micronesia. If you want, email your email address and I will send links. Tried to paste them here, but it did not work.

I don't know why this showed up on my KZbin feed today but I am glad it did. I was in the Peace Corps way back in the 1970s and worked in the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands Public Defender Office. I spent some time on Moen back then and I often wonder how things are there now compared to how they were then. I met some truly wonderful people there. I have never forgotten them or the islands of the lagoon. Thanks for posting this.

So nice. I’m too young to know where this location is also with who are singing in the crowd. But I do know for a fact that the stocky gentleman in the red shirt is the late Pedro Camacho from San Roque. Former school teacher and very good free diving fisherman.

Rota is so special and certainly has changed. But a lot of places still remain untouched and the locals still try to hang onto the traditions of our elders. Would you know if Rose was with someone at the time? Maybe his name was Robert? I think at this time she would have had children: Anthony/Tony and Juanit.
