Just bought this monitor,is going off and on using DP cable,updated firmware and after update stopped going off and on till I unplugged monitor for 1 minute per the update instructions,not sure what to try next

Hey man, sorry if I missed it in the video, but did you have any issues with VRR flickering? Been looking into getting my first OLED for my ps5 pro, but have heard that is a problem with most OLEDs and 2.1 support for VRR is very important to me

I was looking at this monitor, as well as the MAG 271QPX E2, but then I found out that you cannot update the firmware without a PC that has a dedicated graphics card. I was going to use the monitor with a basic mini PC and a PS5. Unfortunate, really. I’m not sure if other brands are the same way or not.

@@Uberklocked Yeah, I’ve been reading the same the last few days. Intrigued by this, I decided to contact MSI support about it. I opened a support ticket, and also talked to live chat support. Live chat support confirmed that a Windows 11 mini PC with an AMD processor/AMD integrated graphics would work when updating the firmware. Great. Perfect. I then read the response from the support ticket created, and they said the opposite. Integrated graphics cannot complete the update. So… yeah. I don’t know. On top of that, I sent the support ticket a screenshot of my conversation with live chat, where they confirmed it was okay. I’ve yet to hear back from that support ticket. Lastly, I created a post in the MSI support forum. I explained the situation, and my current confusion with the conflicting support I’ve received thus far. Someone responded stating that I need to use a PC with a graphics card. I responded to that with the screenshot of my live chat conversation, asking who is right here. I’ve yet to get a response back. TLDR; MSI support is a mess, and I still don’t know if a Windows 11 mini PC with integrated graphics and a DP port can update the monitor firmware or not.

@@Uberklocked Yeah, I actually sent that user a message a few days ago but haven’t heard back yet. Hopefully I’ll hear something at some point. I did end up buying the MAG 271QPX E2 while on sale on Amazon. It’s eligible for the holiday return date of January 31, so I can at least try it out. I’ve never used an OLED monitor before. Maybe I’ll get this firmware nonsense sorted out between now and then as well.

@@Uberklocked Update: MSI support continues to be pretty sketchy about this situation. As I mentioned before, they never responded when I asked them why Live Chat support said I could upgrade with a mini PC. They closed that web ticket without ever responding. Today, I opened a new web ticket asking them what’s going on. Why won’t they clear up the confusion. They immediately closed that new web ticket. No response beforehand. Nothing. I have no idea why they’re being so incredibly sketchy about this. This is my first experience with MSI. Not great.

We have seen reports of issues like these caused by not fully unpacking the flash utility. Apparently some users are double clicking the download and running the tool from the compressed folder.

Well, I only use it on my PC. I have not seen any crushed scenes or images too dark. HDR works well and the image and colors pop.

I'm afraid not. At this time the only option the firmware tool even has is via Display Port.

My samsun oled arrived exactly the same with a massive hole 🕳. Called them up to log this incase longterm damage. Irritating as it should be in an outer box given how fragile they are. They had the nerve to say they don't do that because they are trying to be not wasteful to the environment then right after said I can return it for another unit (which is more wasteful) I said perhaps just package your orders properly and you won't get risk of returns etc (in the uk)

The instructions for the firmware update was titled as "How to flash firmware with NVIDIA/AMD graphics card via DP cable". From that I would think either will work. However, from that I might come to the conclusion that Intel GPU's might not work. Everything else that I have read suggests that any Display Port capable video card would work. Has anyone with the Intel GPU updated their 321UP?

The reason why I opted for the 165Hz model is simply this: My 4070 TI SUPER is never going to run all of my games at 360 frames per second in order to sync up game play with a 360Hz monitor. Mind you we are talking 4K resolution with maxed out setting. I doubt the RTX 5090 is going to run many modern games at 360 frames per second at 4K resolution and the graphics maxed out. If you mainly play older titles and see 300+ frames per second on average then the higher refresh rate might be achievable. My guess is that the 3080 is going to perform very similar to the 4070 TI SUPER. So the answer really depends on what games you plan on playing.

I just watched several benchmark videos of the 3080 running some modern games at 2K with max settings. I doubt the 3080, even with the 9800X3D overclocked, will hit close to 300 FPS in modern games with graphics all cranked up. Personally I prefer 4K resolution. What monitor are you coming from?

Not likely. The updater program looks for the monitor over the Display Port and does not offer any other options. MSI suggests removing any adapters inline with the DP cable as well.

Yay! Didn't think the 321UP was ever gonna get an update. The ability to do this on such an amazing and cheaper 4k oled really makes this monitor stand out as a value powerhouse

I think it is an incredible deal compared to the other monitors with this panel. I think OLED technology has been inflated by price and demand. Now that other manufactures are making these smaller, higher pixel density, OLED panels, the price will drop. Overall I am very happy with it!
