Brilliant scene. It sets the stage for the second half of the movie the same way the murder of his mother set up the first. He went back into the womb (the cave is very much a womb with a birth canal) a slave, was found worthy by the dead king and given a sword. The weapon sets him above the dangers of the world and signifies him to be a free man. This is made abundantly clear as he leaves the cave (reborn ) and frees himself from the chains of his prior life with it. With the sword he no longer runs from life but can take control of it and set his own destiny. All of that played out in a scene with a bad actor and only one word of dialogue. What an amazing director!

HA! This is child's play. If the dentist really wanted to lay down the torture, he would have forced him to read weathered copies of "Highlights" magazine, from cover to cover, for hours and hours. Halfway through just one, he'd have shouted out, "I'LL TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW!"

If you watch the film, uyou will notice that for the whole movie Dustin'd teeth appear to be kind of bucked and different. That was all to lead up to what was cut from this scene . they actually shot a scene of the drill going into the Front tooth with a semi retractable fake drill and they deemed it way to shocking and going overboard so it was cut.

yesterday this actually happened to me the freezing did not work and the dentist proceeded to pull my tooth I was screaming in pain from the top of my lungs it was the most horrific event of my whole life
