Excellent playing, and really nice tone. Would love to know what tunings you use on all 4 steels. I'm still trying to decide which one to use and have tried a few so far.

Thanks, I sold this quad several years ago, but as I remember, my tunings were C6, A6, B11, and C6 baritone. The outer neck was designed for very thick strings. That neck had extra wide slots in the nut and extra wide holes in the tuner shafts to accommodate thick strings (for a baritone tuning). If you are just starting out, I suggest either C6 or A6 tuning. They are good all round tuning to cover most styles of music. If you’re going for rock or blues, try an E tuning. For bluegrass, G tuning. Also check out www.steelguitarforum.com There is a lap steel section there.

Great playin Doug! I have a couple questions…what size Tone Bar do you favor most? What is the size of the one your using in the video? Lastly Doug, how many pedal steels do you own and what are they? Thank you so very very much! You are a wonderful inspiration to us all! and a great Human Being! May the Good Lord Continue to Bless you! and keep you and yours Safe in His Loving Arms! God Bless you Doug! Respectfully, Jeff Mercer in Mentor, Oh.

I use a standard pedal steel guitar bar: 7/8" x 3-1/4". For lap steel I use a smaller bar, a Dunlop #918. I currently have 8 or 9 steel guitars, I haven’t counted them lately. Three pedal steals, and a bunch of lap steels. Most of the ones seen in my older videos have been sold.
