I wish they would add the old albums to the streaming services I’ve asked Eric a couple times wonder if he forgot or if it’s to complicated or 3 they don’t have the old tracks anymore I doubt it’s 3 though least there on here my old cds are sadly to scratched to recover 😢
There is a version of thier catalog that is more raw that was recorded at my house on DA88 mixed to 1/2", by me and Mark Romans the Drummer. All of thier songs and recording are quite good. if memory serves right .. these recordings you posted might.... be by (the late) Steve Albini and Mark Romans everyone in the band was extremly compitent with every insterment and also with recording gear / process it is a shame intersope or sony did not pick them up. its funny, one week Jay Buchanan of reb son and Oleander were opening for 12 the nex week they were on tour and signed to a major label All of these long beach bands played shows together in Longbeach Fellow band "Speaker" would normmaly have Stue or Brett sit in. I believe Scotty the drummer went on to play for "the Who"

I know this song. Some website was giving away CDs of MP3s back in 1999 or so. This was one of the better songs on the CD out of maybe 40 or 50 songs.

What gauge is the wire? You stripped it very fast. I know as a much less experienced person I would have spent a lot more time working my way down from lower gauge (wider diameter) settings as I would be concerned about cutting into the wire I was stripping.
@lifetimeofworktodo2 ай бұрын
I do this dozens of times per day so I don’t rely on the strippers to make the cut, I just kind of go by the pressure I’m applying. I don’t pay any attention to which particular gauge hole I’m using. Most of the wire insulation I work with can be scored with strippers and pulled right off. Keep at it and eventually muscle memory takes over. Just remember it’s always okay to cut and try again if you cut some strands in the process. Quality cables/wires make all the difference to me, even on small gauges. On home projects and off-grid builds, I use marine-grade tinned copper almost exclusively (Ancor brand). Super thin/flexible stranded wire is annoying to me and much more likely to be damaged during stripping.

I like your attitude towards keeping and using sponges. I also liked the advice regarding moving the wired sideways instead of directly away from the iron tip. I subbed cause you clearly know what you're doing and you give valuable advice.

Also not a big fan of the sponge shamming
@lifetimeofworktodo2 ай бұрын
@@afrowitchdrI’m not allowed liquids in most areas I work and constantly leaving my worksite to wet a sponge isn’t realistic. My dedicated soldering bench at home has a sponge and the “metal” style tip cleaner - I use the latter far more often. Board-level/PCB soldering gets a much more delicate approach from me, I promise.

sure, you doing that in a socalled hotelroom without any protection for their furnitures on a table 5:50 and wont even put a simple magazine underneath when soldering by dropping solder on a stationary iron.. mindbogling . Its abc when soldering it that you heat the material and then you add solder to it, not the other way around but at this extent.. who cares...seem like most of what your saying are based around a make believe scenario.
@lifetimeofworktodo2 ай бұрын
You sound like a lot of fun.
@waldolemmer2 ай бұрын
You can't heat copper wire and add solder to it because if the wire is hot enough to melt solder, it's hot enough the melt the insulation a few centimeters down the line. And in my experience, small drops of solder don't carry enough heat to melt the material they land on. They usually don't even stick to the material.

Some time ago I had a gas soldering iron. It was very useful for working in remote locations where electricity was not easily available. Nowadays we have battery powered Milwaukee tools that are very good.

I noticed in the specifications that the unit has a power consumption of 50uA to 12mA (sleep 50-60uA, standby .5-.6mA, working 10-12mA). Does the unit keep track of these losses in the displayed numbers? If you were to disconnect the unit for winter storage I'm guessing it will have to be reset with at top or bottom balance calibration routine. Also, all batteries have a self discharge rate (my LiFePo4 cells <3%/mo). Since most RV battery banks are idle for many months at a time this can easily build over time and lead to false values on the monitor. I'm guessing it probably has no way of measuring self discharge and would have to be re-calibrated every season to be accurate.

Marc Romans the drummer of Twelve Hour Mary still plays and has a new band, Magnet Monks. I recently got in touch with him for this song in particular. He was kind enough to send me the entire album. Twelve Hour Marry was a great band and Marc was the type of drummer that made you want to be a drummer. The amount of joy he displayed while playing was magical.

@functionalsolenoid5398 @WeldtecDesigns How do you think this would compare to a Detroit TrueTrac LSD? I was planning on the TrueTrac until I saw this vid. I've never had a LSD or a true locker, so not really sure whether a locker actually adds much value over a LSD for overlanding/dirt road situations that aren't hardcore wheeling. My guess is in this situation the TrueTrac would engage the left once the right starts spinning and would get you out of this situation.
@lifetimeofworktodo9 ай бұрын
I chose a selectable locker over a LSD as I found it more pleasant to drive in snow/ice. I didn’t always want both my wheels applying torque in those conditions and liked the control over open / locked. For the record, I intentionally “beached” myself here so I could demonstrate the locker. No doubt that either option would have made it up the hill.

I am still in contact with the Drummer (Dan) after all these years, but have lost touch with the remaining members.

Even with 4x4... or awd this could still be stuck if the right rear and front left tire have less resistance those will be the tires that move! Most 4x4 vans are really a 2wd van, go think about that! 2wd and a locker will get you most places you really want to go in a van!
