This seems to be very promising, but which are the rare earth elements in coal? And what is their contents in ashes, or other residues? Because it will not be valuable if you find only 0.05% in coal ash of a cheap element x that you can find in some rare earth deposits in a much larger size, lets say (just for statistics) 5% or 10% and moreover that are mainly the more expensive elements of Y, and still some 1-2% of x. Also: are only certain coals from some mines give this element, or is it found in all coals (I think it's unlikely)? Because the coal powered central will today buy from Colombia, another time from Pennsylvania, and next time from South Africa.

Great job on your forecast demo reel from your internship at NBC CT. I got to intern at a NBC universal station called Telemundo Hartford Springfield located in Hartford CT. When another student in the tv production course several years ago at Manchester Community College in Manchester CT. And when I emailed Brad Field the former chief meteorologist at NBC CT he complimented me that it was good that I interned at Telemundo Hartford Springfield in Hartford because it's good to be bilingual. Anyway I got to tour NBC CT when Josh Cingrenelli was an intern at NBC CT and got to meet Brad Field before he left NBC CT. Finally NBC CT seems like an excellent place to intern and work at. Hope all goes well at Penn State if your still there studying Meteorology or if you graduated. I hope to be a meteorologist one day on tv. Any advice on passing courses like calculus and physics and thermodynamics. It be much appreciated. By the way my second choice would be journalism as my back up.

Hello coal ash is toxic and radioactive very small percentage of rare earths and the input of using acids and titriation methods is expensive. The solution burn coal with limestone and then the product will be useful as a building medium for construction.

Considering that Glass blocks energetic light like ultraviolet unless it’s crystal glass, and that Solar would be less effective with regular glass, and also that Heat is a massive problem

Rare earth eliments. What is all the fuss about? REE do not have to be mined. They don't need chemicals or acids or solvents to process them. They are available freely in stockpiles of red mud.(Bauxite residue). Some four billion tons are stockpiled globally. This waste red mud, is a toxic industrial waste from the Alumina industry, it has many valuable metals and should be made a commodity not a waste. I have a patent pending process for the extraction of metals from red mud, Iron, Titanium and Alumina oxides and working on a patent application for the extraction of REE from the same waste. Both processes are environmentally friendly and very cost effective. The USA has millions of tons of red mud and would break the strangle hold China has over the USA and the rest of the world Anyone interested [email protected]

There is a real disparity of views on the drivers of a changing climate on Earth. The history of the planet has been a changing climate. We have gone from "Iceball Earth" to palm trees growing at the poles. The CO2 level has been at least 10X higher than the current 410 ppm.The unmitigated HUBRIS of the irrational belief that 'insect humans' will destroy the planet (which would survive nuclear holocaust) it quite lamentable. Really there are 2 camps: The CO2 Warmers... and the Solar Cycle scientists who broadly believe that the solar engine is entering a long term quiescent time (decades to centuries). Fortunately, this debate will be answered quite soon (2025-2035). If solar outflow truly drives the climate of the solar system, and especially earth, we are either going to see a colder planet with increased seismic activity and weather extremes... or we should be 1 degree warmer with the polar ice sheets melted and sea level increases of 2-4 feet in this time scale. Someone is telling the truth. And, someone is a hypocrite liar. As you can tell I'm in the John Casey/Mark Steyn camp. As Mann just said "I am certain we will prevail in this battle". Mann has to make this a battle... because it is not "Settled Science" and he is very unlikely to "WIN" on the science alone. I'm investing in Gortex Clothing and Snow Removal stocks.. you should go for bikinis, sunblock and air conditioners.
@scottekoontz5 жыл бұрын
You mention natural changes that take 10,000s of years to occur, and pretend that rapid change within 100 years (for reasons we well known) is to be ignored. CO2 is certainly overpowering natural changes. CO2 levels have not been higher in the past 1,000,000 years. If that's not telling as to how slowly natural changes occur, then I don't know how to convince you. Solar cycles are not driving he warming. "Someone is telling the truth." We are still warming, even though this "sun drives our temps" mantra has been going on for several decades. How many decades of warming do you need before you realize that the near-constant irradiance of the sun is not causing the change? Take a look at who is your camp: Steyn has no degree, and if you've ever heard him speak he's like a child. He calls people names. And he presents no science.

@@scottekoontz What possible reason could MM have for not turning over his data and methodology after HE brought suit against TB? Scientists seemed to have thought that solar cycles had something to do with warming. This is politics much more than science.

@Stanley Goddard So, you state my question and follow with a none answer which includes the standard Fox news/anti intellectual/ conservative strawman side step. So, what was it that he refused to offer to the court?Mann has a creditability issue brought on by data manipulation, "tricks" emails out of South Anglica(sp),refusing debate and not providing court ordered discovery in a lawsuit that HE initiated. His actions encourage scepticism. Settled? How can anyone buy that with all the manipulation that surrounds Mann's "science" ?
