17:20 The 'timber route' sign should instead read: "Beware the drivers of log lorries. They will run you off the road rather than give way. THEY ARE RECKLESS"
@speighty5811 ай бұрын
I certainly wouldnt have wanted to meet up with any logging lorries, the roads wold have barely been wide enough !

Another great video. These roads just cannot be surpassed for riding. Shame a lot of the drivers on it had no clue how to drive a single track road properly. My favourite place the West coast of God's Country.

At 14:40 is where you can go panning for gold, there was a minor gold rush there and the stream (Sco: burn) washes down the ore. You can also find red Agates. Great film. Missed some key parts like the full decent of the hill before the Drum.

Thanks Simon, didnt know that about the gold rush

Some nice wee roads less travelled,comms have their uses if used for the right purpose and nobody chatters incessantly
@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne11 ай бұрын
I visit Scotland (Highlands) 2 or 3 times a year. Sure the NC500 is good but your comment about "roads less travelled" is spot on. Some of the best roads are the little lanes that come off the NC500. One such road is the road to Reiff that leaves the NC500 north of Ullapool.

@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne am I right in saying it’s a dead end and you have to re trace your steps to the main road ? Or do you cut in through Lochinver
@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne11 ай бұрын
It's a dead-end. An 18 mile dead-end...but 100% worth the effort. The views out across the Atlantic are incredible, and the twisty, nadgery mostly single track road was made for bikes. On the way back you can take a left-turn to go via the back road to Lochinver.@@norriemasson4080

Spot on. Makes it sound easy but getting damping fine tuned can make or break a ride. I adjust mine so when winding the throttle on, I can ride over a bumpy surface without being pitched out of the seat, then rebound to smooth out the bumps so the net result it seems to glide under control over bumpy surfaces without squat causing wallow. Trick is getting the feel for how this should feel when setting it up. Initial push should feel progressive so easy to compress a little before compression damping feel kicks in and rebound should allow similar...ie first part of rebound starts quickly but is arrested by damping quite rapidly but not so it takes too long to return to static. Net result is no bounce. I start with book reccos then set sag from there for preload then do compression on feel and rebound to prevent bounce. When happy I make a note of settings and take it for a spin. Shouldnt need doing often except when static load changes or setting up a bit stiffer for track days.

Another great video Griff 👍🏻 would you say 20-25 front and 10-15 rear would be right for a Gen 1 RSV too?

does clockwise strengthen or soften compression?
5 жыл бұрын
Clockwise adds more damping therefore making the ride more harsh.

Not bad for an old mans bike. I know. The older you get the more comfort you require. Keep it shiny side up mate.

But this does not take into account if the rider is too heavy for the springs?
