Is it OK if the bottom of the bridge isn't flat?
@guitar-academy7 сағат бұрын
No, The bottom of the saddle needs to be as flat as it can be. You can get away with imperfections if the guitar is remaining purely acoustic, but if you have a piezo pickup any imperfections will make the strings different volumes. 😊😀

Just to say thank you. I've been watching your videos over and over, using the ebook, pretty much 1 hour a night for 6 months now. Your guidance and answering a few questions along the way has been invaluable. I don't want to brag but 3 months ago this videos I found the exercises impossible, but now fairly straight forward. If you have a patreon please let me know.

A detailed overview of your settings and how you record would be amazing. I bought the steel string version years ago and was disappointed with how it sounds in recordings. I gave up on it and havn't picked it up in quite a while. I bought it specifically to record, because it was getting such great reviews, and I thought using direct input would eliminate issues I was having trying to record acoustic guitar with microphones. Thanks for this tutorial!
@guitar-academy7 сағат бұрын
Thank you . . . Yes, I gave up using the steel strung version for about a year but I was using the nylon strung version which I found sounded far more authentic. I've started using the steel strung version again and I've managed to get a good sound to record with, but it took ages. One thing I think it depends on is your style of play. It's easier to get a nice fingerstyle sound than a strumming style sound (on my setup). 🤔

Donner has been coming up with some nifty instruments. Like Mogabi to Yamaha, LAG to Martin and SpaceX to Boeing. I quit paying for "Brand Names" decades ago. We sometimes take a chance but oft find diamonds from the roughest places. Why pay an extra $4000 for a brand name when an off Brand may even play better and have better quality? It's okay I never understood owning antiques either to look at on a shelf. Just something else to dust. Take the better instrument and with your savings sponsor or rescue a few dogs and cats. Here is another thing I discovered on my journey. Call Martin or Fender and ask them what strings came on the guitar and they will say Brand Name and size. Call LAG or someone in Europe about their guitar strings and they only give the size. Just like stamping gas caps with BP or oil caps with Mobile. They are paid to tell you what to buy. GHS strings will NOT make you play like Gilmour. Be well every one. Play Hard. Practice slow and easy. Slow is Smooth and Smooth is Fast.
@guitar-academyКүн бұрын
great catch phrase . . 'Play Hard. Practice slow and easy. Slow is Smooth and Smooth is Fast' 😊 I agree with everything you've said about brand names. I think too many people get caught up in brand snobbery, and I've noticed here on KZbin if you say something bad about the big names you get abuse from the name worshippers. 🤔
@Jack.WatersКүн бұрын
@ Yes, branding is huge over here still. People also believe if they spend $4000 on a guitar it will be easier to learn and play. My first acoustic was a $200 fender. That way I wasn’t afraid to damage it from fret sanding and resetting, changed the nut and bridge to bone and string pins to ebony. Drilled the back for an output jack and glued in passive pickups. It was a great learning tool.

Hi I'm on Windows and after i run Cusuite and plug in my looper it's not recognized and says "Waiting for device connect..." and "No device connected !". Previously i used an older dell laptop and i would simply plug it and a file would appear with all my .wav files. Now in the newer laptop nothing happens. It recognizes usb drives normally but not the looper station. Any clues?

Good observation. At a guess, it might need an older USB socket. USB 1 or 2 🤔

Hello. I own a Black PIA. It had exactly the same neck thing going on, as you demonstrated in the video. It was annoying, but it can be solved within 5 minutes. I think it is a good idea to lessen the string tension equally with a Tremblock or something. Retune the guitar, and probably the intonation is still correct. At least with my guitar. I love the guitar, but to be honest, the Ibanez j custom guitars do have beter fret work, and the finishing is of an higher standard. For the price it should be hold to that standard I think.
@guitar-academy2 күн бұрын
Yes, I agree it should be a higher standard. I still love my old Jem and that was half the price 😊

I have had 3 white PIA's, returned all of them. I really loved playing these guitars, but there was always finish issues. All of them had bad petal grip work done. There was a lot of missing finish in the tight part of the grip. And you know when you have wood that is cut poorly with bad tools, you get bumps in the wood cut, these had that as well, so they had rugged areas with little finish. One of them even had this weird orange hue inside of the white finish on the body, almost as if they mixed the finish improperly or someone spilled something on it. I would love to own one of these one day, but I am hoping they sort out the issues because I didn't expect this from the Japan factory, three in a row, and where I live they retail for 3800 USD, I have only seen 1 on the used marketplace in my country.

ihad the same problem with the slg200n. i absolutely love the guitar. i bought it specifically for late night hotel room practicing but it quickly became my go-to every day guitar. i even use it on stage fequently now and i record with it a lot. been playing it for a couple of years. started having the battery pack problem about a year in. it started with sporadic connection problems and then got chronic. i soved it first by popping a little ball tin foil on the positive contact in the battery box. then i used a small metal washer. both worked but were clumsy and made the battery drain a bit faster. then i found the replacement battery pack. i 've been playing on it for about a year and don't seem to be developing the problem with this one.

I like this guitar, however I have found on mine that the intonation is a little sharp, another issue is buzzing the on lower strings. Any ideas how I could go about fixing this? I'm tuned down a half step, could this be contributing to the issues?
@guitar-academy7 күн бұрын
Yes tuning the guitar down half a step will contribute toward buzz. The nut could be too low or the neck relief might be wrong. I can't explain how to test or fix this in text but this video might help; kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4O2coSlmLeSqLs

Route the bridge down to maintain break angle , simple I do see the issue. But it is a simple fix for someone with the knowledge skills and tools.
@guitar-academy8 күн бұрын
Sorry but I disagree . . I have the tools and the knowhow and this isn't a simple job. Setting up a jig above the bridge and the router to cut to just the right depth completely level takes ages if you do it properly. Also on some guitars the saddle slot goes all the way down to the body, and I wouldn't recommend anyone routing into the body. Personally I wouldn't do any of this just to fit a gizmo.

Nice organized format. I'm not a "brand snob" or "purist". if it's well constructed and plays and sounds good, that's the one for me. I'll pick a good fake over a bad authentic. I generally liked the sound of B and C over A. For playing with high gain or distortion, I'd pick C for the hugely superior noise and hum suppression in the middle and neck pickups. The differences in pickup sound per guitar was not a particularly significant factor for me. True, there are audible differences, but the final sound is also about choice of amp, accessories, settings, and playing technique.
