@@TARandFEATHERS 5 years ago I remember standing with so many in this community who took their vote and voice for granted. Anger and hate, violence and fury is what our enemies want out of us because it dehumanizes us. I saw a few years back hundreds of kids in Ottawa come to the gun range for a firearm class given by some students who created a club at Carlton U, By the end of the year 500 students had applied for a PAL. We win that way … you might say it’s soft and we need to pivot to another method. But … Without grassroot organizers, without participating in politics and policy at a basic level, we’re just leaving the game without having played it. The road is long, there will be disapointments … but it will just make the victory that much sweeter.

We really should just adopt the Simplified Classification System similar to what most EU countries have. All semi auto's are legal and just categorized based on overall length, with some require extra steps to get, basically our restricted license. Also would allow for our laws to have some semblance of objective logical sense. Same could be said for suppressors as there is no real good reason to ban them, and only benefits to legalizing them even for non firearm owners in noise reduction/pollution.

One difference between Canada and those other countries, that is that the price for my freedom has already been paid. No tyrant gets to steal my property accusing me of crimes in haven’t committed. FAFO, we will not comply. Feels like our own government is trying to start a war with its own citizens. We haven’t forgotten how the police transformed from public servants to the definition of terrorists during the freedom convoy when in mass without any good cops to be found anywhere to arrest the bad cops, they put on balaclavas, took off their ID, assaulted us at gun point, sabotaged heavy equipment, vandalized and stole from our vehicles, froze our bank accounts, trampled us under horses, shot a reporter with a gas canister at point blank range,and celebrated online that this was the best day of their careers. I'm a 🇨🇦 refugee, but just so irritated by Trudeau's knee-jerk gun laws, regulations, and his generally elitist, urban views on everything from guns to Gaza. There's been a "drift" in the Canada that I remember, and sadly, both in the direction of racist and extreme right views, "leaking" from the idiots to the south, and also the drift toward incredible levels of "political correctness" and "sensitivity", both directions that have reduced the former feeling of "Canadian comfort", people able to argue, without violence, people who didn't take offense at supposed insults... It's not the Canada that I wanted to come home to.

@CanadianFirearmNooB The RCMP has already stated that they will treat any person who has even a minor infraction with the now prohibited guns like any other criminal with a firearms violation... and it's worse being a lawful gun owner because a minor infraction means they will seize your guns and throw you in jail, fines don't come into play when its with guns... anyone engaging in acts of civil disobediance needs to understand, be prepared, and accept the outcomes associated (i'm not trying to dissuade anyone) I do agree that voting is important... however, in Canada, the major city centers (Toronto, Montral, Vancouver) are typically Liberal/Ndp/Blok strongholds. We all need to be wary of the 'election reform' Acts these parties will work to install... sometimes voting isn't the way to get your voice heard...

@ I know that the narrative of ‘voting is sometimes not the solution’ is a popular one for a lot of gun enthusiasts but there is so much difference we can make, at the municipal level, city councils and every step of the way, we must be involved if we want to understand the system and influence it. I’ve stood so many times in meetings with MPs, city counsellors, city meetings and I always wondered where are the firearm owners. We just don’t show up and we need to change that. I had a fascinating exchange with my MP recently, he took notes and listened. He didn’t know anything about firearms. There were only 16 people there that day and we talked about everything from potholes to the police station. At the end of the meeting 16 people knew more about firearms . We need to show up

@@robertk7229 agreed but we need to recognize the basis of the law as unappealing as it may be to hear it : 1- The Canadian Constitution does not protect gun owners. 2- The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that the right to keep and bear arms is a privilege, not a right. Being that this is the legal background to firearm ownership in Canada we must be wary of acting as if it’s a ‘dangerous precedent’ when in fact it’s literally the law. My take is we must convince our law makers to change that law, so I agree with you in principle but also understand that we must elect lawmakers that change those laws
