David Currie was a boy genius in Thornaby-on-Tees, my hometown. Still remember him scoring ridiculous goals as a kid. The flicks were all in place early on. Natural talent.

Clough was a great manager. How I wish he hadn’t made that inaugural speech about Leeds players cheating to win their medals. Leeds under Clough could have achieved more than Revie did.

I was stood at the front behind the Bridgford End goal at Forest when this man scored with a fantastic overhead bicycle kick against Man City - FA Cup 4th Round 1974. I'll never forget it.

it was a big disappointment to me when Jimmy Bullard was in the England squad but never got a run, he was exactly the type of player any national team needs

I'm a Nottingham bloke and at this time I worked for a Irishman in Radford and he was a star in his own right with some of the stuff he came out with - On the phone to someone and he comes out with " I was born in Ireland at a very early age" I nearly peed myself laughing , We no longer have these people today !

I hate all this tippy tap football on the edge of your own penalty area. In my younger days as a keeper I wanted that ball as far away from the goal as possible. If that meant a long punt into the other half, so be it and if it came back, repeat. You're very, very rarely going to concede a goal from the oppositions half.
@Lezley-q4r
@Lezley-q4r Ай бұрын
Bill Shankly also had a very simple football philosophy " When we have the Ball, we all Attack"- "When we don't have the Ball ,we all Defend" Could not disagree he was the best ever english manager as he won the league with Two different clubs, that will never happen again in England.

When Brian Clough asked David Currie where he was from ( I know he'd signed from Barnsley and that answer's quite true ) but really he should've said Thornaby ( where he grew up ) which is approx 4 miles from Middlesbrough ( where Brian Clough grew up )

I think modern players pass more and are more accurate with it. It can make the game boring but technically I think they are better than in my day but I'd much rather watch an old game. There was more heart and excitement.

Paddy is a legend. When I first went to old Trafford I saw him but was too shy to say hello to him. A Celtic man. Man United is full of Scottish players in it's history managerial and players. I understand paddy got into a fist fight after the world club match in 1968 at old Trafford against the Argentinans and sir Matt dragged him off and said that's enough paddy. At old Trafford there is a statue for best law and Charlton. There should be one for Duncan Edwards. Paddy should have a statue. A remarkable man and a great servant to Celtic and Manchester United and a lovely man. Duncan Edwards was an amazing player and sir tom Finney and sir Stanley Matthews. He was George bests minder. We wouldnt have had George without Paddy and the lawman.
