Finally we get to see Vince White, Nick Sheppard & Pete Howard version of the story (respect) & how all 3 were mistreated by Bernie, Kosmo or even Strummer himself...

I think Paul was rather desmissive to Vince a times too. I have read his book. Neither Joe or Paul showed any care for the new guys they hired. They let Bernie treat them bad, they didn't say anything during band meetings. It's rather odd.

This rock doc is very sweet and precious. One of the narrators actually said: the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Clash. Just a little more clarification on that short list. The Beatles Led Zeppelin The Rolling Stones The Who Black Sabbath Pink Floyd Queen Cream Now you can add Fleetwood Mac, The Clash, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Uriah Heep, Dire Straits, and Def Leppard in whatever order you fancy. It's really funny though how many people have that high opinion about The Clash Once they could afford tissues to wipe off their dirty faces and to wipe their snotty noses after a drug induced haze, The Clash were no longer relevant. Poor old Johnny Ray...

They were treated like shit by Bernie. But neither Strummer or Simonon is blameless either. Read Vince White book about it.

The Clash made music the Pistols made History. Both incredible bands. The Pistols were gone as quickly as they appeared. The poseurs were those that followed copying the look out of pages from the Sun / Mirror. Both had the same cut and paste fashion. Members of both bands wardrobe evolved especially Rotten and Simonon who defined the bands look throughout their short lived career. RIP Joe. God bless Johnny. Posers? Billy Idol. Proper Bollocks.

Vince White is a lying piece of crap. Anyone read his book or interviews. There is a interview out there filled with racist rants about Chinese people. He bashed Joe alot, said he was phony. Said Paul sucked at bass. Even claims Bernies girl wanted him and pissed Bernie off. Vince is here, Joe is gone.
@bent2
@bent2 5 жыл бұрын
None of his "lies" as you put it have ever been debunked. It has been confirmed by both Pete Howard and Nick Sheppard. Even Strummer admitted they were treated badly. You seam irritated that some uncomfortable things about The Clash has surfaced. It was about time that those poor chaps finally was heard in a big way about their terrible experience.

Long over due , Vince White`s book was a compelling read and hopefully this film will prevent him , Nick Sheppard & Pete Howard from ever being air brushed out of rock & roll history again.
@bent2

The high point of the film for me was that the three of them finally got to tell their version. White especially took this experience very hard and is still bitter as you can read from recent interviews. They were treated badly by Bernie and to some extent Strummer who didn't stand up for them at all. Vince Whites book talks about this in detail.
