I love listening to Phil talk about these places, I did an archeologist led tour of these sites years ago and loved it. But revisiting with Phil is a treasure

Hi Phil, I'm 64 now. I've seen the original Time Team in '90. seen all of it again during f.. Lock-downs. And let's be honnest, I think most of us think like that, Phil, Tony and Mick where the base and fun in those years. Thank you for that, because that time glued us at Time Team. Now we have a new group, happilly with Helen, Matt, Carenza,John and now annoying Tony again 😂😂. We still miss you !

I love so much that after all these years digging Phil's heart and soul is clearly still in it! There's nothing better than learning from an individual with an undying passion and excitement for something.

I spent most of my childhood in Upavon and we often used to ride our horses up on to the 'plain' and what a beautiful place it is and how you can feel the age of it especially at dusk. There are numerous long and short barrow's all around that area. Does anyone know if any part of the 'Avenue' Avebury has been excavated? Thank you for all you do and bringing it to watch on your channel. PS love to see our Phil ❤ on the program.

I'm in my sixties now & it drives me mad to think that between school & the church we were so indoctrinated, meanwhile outside were heaps of history, our history ignored & down played. I lived in a village in north Hampshire (Wessex) THE Chatholic church sat on Tower hill that its estimated to have had one thousand Sarsen stones. The stones are now scattered around the area 10 sq miles. That hill had a pre Catholic religious history obliterated, just disgusting.

Wish the presenter was a little more informed about her subject matter. The comments are about Phil Harding. He is the draw. She does not hold a candle compared to Tony Robinson.

I remember in Ancestors, hearing about this find and I remember, the Archer, as they call him sometimes, was a man in his late 30's getting towards his 40's, he was a man reaching his prime and he was killed while travelling on the road, hunting with a younger man, 20 years younger than him, now mostly believed as the Archer's son, a fellow archer and hunter too, the cause of death of the Archer suggests, they think now, an attack perhaps, maybe he and his son, were ambushed on the road, his son lived, injured, maybe, but, the Archer must have died, I think, a little later after the attack, he was pushing 40-odd though, so. who knows? My memory is rubbish though, it'll come back to me soon, eventually.

Who else remembers the TT episode of Phil's DNA test? He is descended from a female who crossed into England from Europe 20,000 years ago. He may be descended from the people he is bringing to life here.

What might the iron be from? When else has vivianite been present? Why might there have been a tree in the moat? Was it worked? De-barked? Less musical interludes and backhoes, more story, please!

Interesting. I hope that there will be a more extensive presentation of the dig. I know that it isn't Time Team, but since I live in the Rocky Mountains, in the US, I will never get a chance to go see the castle in person.

They were travellers. Orkney pottery found in the Stonehenge area. Maybe travel was safe? They used cup and cup and ring mark symbols from Northern Scotland to Portugal and beyond. There was an Atlantic seaboard pan-European culture that shared a lot culturally.

The stone circle reminds me of a roman colosseum or arena. 10 meter deep ditch, and huge rampart to sit on for the audience.

Hi Folks, So very glad to see Wessex Archaeology through several youtube videos, and love to see the very best Dr Phil there ever was by far, As much as I enjoy these videos, and I really do, I would like to ask that in editing your content you would back-off the background music please? it is >>very<< irritating to have it compete with and far too often outcompete, the voices of those talking and what they are saying, Looking forward to more great Archaeology content, discussions, etc...., Thank you, KWL

I remember the first time I saw Stonehenge. It was the night before Midsummer. I was hitchhiking from London and was dropped off on Salisbury plain, probably a mile and a half from the monument. The moon was pretty bright and I walked the distance, soon I could see Stonehenge on the horizon and, as I walked, it grew larger and larger. It seemed to just arise from the earth. It was literally overwhelming. Of course, by dawn it was pouring rain and I never got to see the sun rising over the healstone.
