Hey Jethro - I know this video is 2yrs old, but…were you sure that was regular grease and not (Castrol) Spheerol - which can be used in steering and gearboxes? Spheerol flows at any temp, unlike regular grease and can help stop leaks. Thanks.

Good instructions BUT!!!!! You didn't mention ( or even know?) - that the brass discs have machined angles at the point of contact with the venturi ports - so must be installed the correct way round to ensure a proper seal when the butterfly is closed. The discs come in various angles which is stamped onto the disc in most instances, or a reference number which gives the angle. If they are inserted wrongly the seal is lost when the butterfly is in it's closed position.

Here’s a revised version of your text: "Excellent car and what a labor of love! I’m looking to buy a Giulia Super 1.6, but I’m concerned it might feel slow and struggle on the highway. Any thoughts on this? I know one can upgrade the cams, exhaust, and ignition to boost performance, but would the difference be noticeable or would the car need more significant, permanent changes to the engine to improve performance. I've read that some people swap the engine for a 2.0-liter Nord. What are your thoughts?
@JethroBronner

@@Capitan_Cavernicola_1 a 1600 will struggle to keep up with highway traffic today. My Giulia isn’t quick enough to get comfortable on the highway at 130 kph. I plan to build a 2000cc engine and install a 4.1:1 final drive gear, that should solve the issue.

@@JethroBronner thanks for the advice. That is probably what would happen with a. 1.6. End up replacing that engine for a 2.0l but that is costly.

When you tried to refit the brace to the roof I noticed that there was something wrong as the sound while welding didn’t sound correct. Was the metal perfectly clean? If it was then your MIG settings weren’t correct. And to much spatter going on.

I'm negotiating on a very rusty 1971 1750 GTV. It's been sitting outside for many years, will need all that chassis work, interior needs total replacement, all much like this car. It is straight and complete though. The owner is a packrat, has about 100 cars on his property, mostly BMWs, a couple of 912s, just the one Alfa. It's a dance, trying to establish a rapport, listening to his BS, his intention to get to it and all. I'm not offering much, the car has value as a starting point, it will take a lot of money and a lot of labor, fortunately I've done this sort of thing before, on Alfas and three XK-Es, rotisserie body restorations. The seller is in his late 60s and in ill health, I'm 78 and doing OK but not as spry as I used to be, time will tell.

Not sure if you are still around, hope you are and are well. Just wondered as I watched you grind the shim, the buckets must vary slightly so could you not use a micrometre to see if any of the buckets were sufficiently different to allow you to use an off the shelf shim for that particular valve? Or should you not move the buckets from their original placement in the head?
@JethroBronner
@JethroBronner 5 ай бұрын
@@johnwh1039 yeah sometimes that will get you over the line, but the shim size I needed was so far off anything I had (well beyond factory sizes) that even huge variation in the buckets wouldn’t help.
