Im doing this right now on an 8.0 and the freaking roto start broke on the 2nd attempt, then the pull start broke. Amazon of course took it back. Lrp 32 going in now

I dug my 8.0 out after 11+ years, started to get it restored but it already needs parts I can't find, when the one way bearing slipped I put it back in the garage and bought a new revo. Never was a Traxxas fan but at least they are still making parts

You're probably going through spur gears because of how you feather the throttle. It causes the clutch bell to heat up and slowly soften that spur gear.

I’ve got one of these engines, it’s not even broken in yet and I’m on my 4th pull start! The string pull puts metal teeth against plastic latches inside which grinds them away, if you use the spin start, the cast metal socket fails and crumbles! A great engine let down by massively flawed pull start! I took it out in the end until I can find a different back plate that will allow to use better quality roto starts!

Try preheating your engine with a Heat gun and loose the glow plug just a hair.

Yeah it was running pretty cold too, I kinda wanted it to get to at least 190 degrees before I fine tune the top end but the remote I'm using on this model kinda sucks and didn't want to have a run away if batteries died hahaha, I do have an M11x at my apartment that I had to order a new receiver for since the crappy Chinese counterfeit receiver it came with already took a crap! So I'm currently using the cheap factory controller. Also the pipe on this thing really doesn't help the top end... looking for an 086 but can't seem to find any out there...

NitroRc Rock -you’ll get more top end with 086 but sacrifice your bottom, you can still get nova 9886 same as 086 and pair it with nova 41015, 41016 conical header and move the pipe to the side, I like dynamite 053 with losi lst stock header which has a little more top end without sacrificing bottom👍👍

@@romeldaniel74 yeah that's a nice pipe, I had that one on an old losi 8ight t with a CRE 528-8 and it ripped. But I don't think I want to spend that much on a pipe for this monster truck haha 😂 I'm waiting on the tracks to open up again so I can build myself a truggy like the one I had 6 years ago 😎
