I don't think this carving was originally a lion. Look at the paws and the dimension of this thing. I think it was a representation of the God Anubus who was also known as a jakel and sometimes depicted as a man with a jakel head. Now this carving looks like a jakel with a man's (pharrows) head. I think that's something to think about. Was it ever a lion.. maybe once its head was but not originally. Just what I think anyway. Also interesting that a jakel being a dog and anubus being a god....hello! Spell dog backwards. Anubus was a protector of souls and dog is man's best freind.
