The reader is very, very monotonous.

I like this reader's voice and diction, and I don't get too het up over how people pronounce Lovecraftian names. It's the perfectly standard English vocabulary items that get the odd -- even, let's say, "incorrect" -- pronunciations that I find kind of distracting, and detract from the listening experience.

I've been a fan of Sherlock Holmes since I was 12 years old, and I rode my bike to the local Woolworth's 5&10 store. I used my allowance to purchase my first S.H. novel, a picture book, and I was hooked. Now, 60 years later. I discovered these new novels. The author has done a great job with researching info that is incorporated in the stories. The narration is the icing on the cake. I'm hooked all over again. Thank you!

The narrator's indrawn breaths aren't QUITE enough to make me close the app, but are grating on my nerves badly. The thing that would make this worse is an American reader. I'm not a xenophobe. I'm a Texan born and raised myself, but I cannot listen to my countrymen butchering books, especially those by British authors. The continual gasping of Mr. Thomas runs a distant second.

You're kidding, right? Why would you think starting the book with a complete plot summary would be a good idea?

This is unlike any Edgar Wallace I've ever read so I was prepared from the comments below to dislike it and tune out after a short time. But it is really funny and I'm enjoying it immensely! Recommend it heartily to Wallace readers who want to see him in a playful mood.

Here we go again. Father's message was spot on until he got to Fiducia Supplicans. This was a document that was not needed. Everyone can receive God's mercy, however, no repentance, no mercy. Fiducia Supplicans fell short because it did not call persons living in same sex relationships to repentance. If you commit adultery or fornication, repentance is also required for God's mercy. As Jesus said in John 8:11, "Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more." So many like to leave out the go and sin no more part. I understand why the priest has to tread lightly around the Fiducia Supplicans document. A number of clergy have been removed by Pope Francis from their positions and parishes for opposing the document. I admire the moral courage of those who did oppose it.

Interesting how the elites have been pushing the Evolution story since before they knew anything about DNA (which proves Creation). Ooops!

I was in tears throughout the whole first part This is the epitome of old archeology, find a corpse take it to the museum and absolutely not call a “professional” archeologist to the place Holmes comparing them to Schliemann (pardon if there is a misspelling) as justification for WHY they should continue (he who discovered the city of Troy and excavated it by BLOWING IT UP and destroying thousands of years of history in what should have been a crime against humanity, as well as stealing historical artifacts from Greece ) is just so freaking funny, and Sherlock calling the both of them grave robbers just reinforces that The freaking old “archeology” - we just have fun and blow things up what’s that you say about protecting valuable evidence of times past - vibe has me in tears I applaud the author for that I’m just sad not everybody might get some of the references

This book is the dreams both of the explorer and megalomaniac. To take strange lands and to rule them. If you have no inkling of this sensation, something felt only by the Alexander's and Juliuses, you will not enjoy this book.
