Does lots of wax in the pin line resin prevent separation? Or is does it just make it spread smoother?

I'm currently shaping one with a similar concave as this. How does it go on the water? I created one performance and Noserider mixed board. My nose concave stops about 14" on the nose. Then slight double concave in the middle then v roll and at the tail a double concave around 8" before the exit by the box. Mine is a 9,8 x 23.25 x3.25.

Hi Pieter, i always get dry spots on my cut lap which are visibile after hot coat, just wondering how do i avoid them? i normally would use 1% of catalyst if its 25C and the laps are well saturated, do you think im cutting the lap too early? that the glass gets bruised? cheers
@pietershapes3 ай бұрын
You mean on the edge of the lap you’re covering? If so, you just need to flood more resin on at the first part and then use a roller
@6to6surf43 ай бұрын
@@pietershapes thanks for the reply, i meant on the bottom cut lap, after laminating the deck then cutting the lap on the bottom, the cut lap is clean but there are some areas that appear dry or bruise after cutting the lap, some of them disappear after the hot coat but some would stay, it doesn't get wet with the hot coat.So i will have like dry fiberglass weave on the cut lap after hot coat if that makes sense. Cheers

Greetings from CA, USA. Just wanted to say thanks for putting out these videos. You talk about teaching people in this video and I am definitely one of your students! Glassing on face is pretty basic, but to do it well and have it look good is insanely difficult and so technique driven. Watching your movements and how you handle curves, etc. has helping me refine my technique more than any other video or written guide. I really appreciate the technique mentorship even if you didn’t know your were mentoring me haha

The Pie Burger looks great. Especially the concave water exhaust attribute. Looks like it would be heaps of fun. Versatile options with the fin set up. Another quality shape and build.

Hi Peter, what's your take on laminating technique where a filler resin is painted on to the lap and then sanded? It is easier to sand the lap. But there must be a reason why you choose not too? Is laminating strength compromised ? Please explain.. Thank you
@pietershapes5 ай бұрын
Did that 35 years ago and didn’t like it, filler shatters a bit on 60grit and leaves A Mark, I paint a bit of lam to protect spray that’s it

It’s all about the level contamination , doing one board a week no problem if you notice the fresh air right next to my glassing stand again the level of contamination , Botox one of the deadliest poisons but people can put small amount in face, like the difference between and xray and mobile phone compared to Chernobyl , I used to get people watching me work smoking saying is that good for your lungs, lol I’d shake my head lol
