Great reaction. I also suggest Carry On. Plus Drifter, the closest he ever came to a country song.

Fantastic reaction Mr. Matthew. Did you ever get around to reacting to Carry On by FIR? It's such an amazing song that is dedicated to Derek Jones who passed away from the band Also I've taken inspiration from your creativity in writing songs that I some day would like to become a country songwriter myself. It's strange, I can sing really well, I can play the piano (somewhat decent at it but there's lots of room for improvement), and I can write stories but some how mixing all three elements together to create a song seems to be a challenging task. As someone who wrote songs before, and I'm sure have meanings behind them, what is your process for writing music and what tips can you give to someone like me, an inexperience individual, to help with the journey of being a song writer/country singer?

Country music wishes it had the versatility and potential artistic expression that metal has. There's only so much you can do with 3 chords and siging about trucks, guns, usa, and "country love" (which let's be honest it's at best cosuin love and at worst sibling love).

in order to enjoy this music, you simply MUST stop expecting things. An open mind is required. To my knowledge, they will try anything and they will perform it flawlessly. It's a pity you haven't reacted to anything else in 3 years by this band. A real pity. You're missing out on so much.

Not sure how much context a Canadian would have about the history of American country., but if you want to speak on whether Beyonce's album is country, you should 1. Listen to the whole thing, and 2. Do a little digging into the many various country music traditions in the US. Her album is definitely more country than any of this bro crap they try to pass off as country. I think Posty could have way done better than this mass appealing commercial bop.

Such an awesome song. Post is way more country than Beyonce. The difference I heard somebody say about Post vs Beyonce is that Post is getting country artists to sing with him, whereas Beyonce is putting her own spin on the country songs. Post is sticking to the theme and sounding country. Beyonce is still sounding Pop and looks like a hooker in that outfit on her video

There is a huge trend in music that few seem to be getting. When you see the company Big Loud Records with Ernest and Charlie Handsome writing and/or producing for Wallen with Wallen's writing input and a recording artist; and then Joey Moi involved in producing; especially when a big pop or hip-hop collabs bringing some of their own writing and/or producing collaborators; and then even taking the collaboration all the way to these artists' preferred directors in the video, you're going to get this kind a hit where the money for it is so spread around, one has to conclude that they don't do this just to make tons of money. We saw this exact same thing with Broadway Girls and Durk. The collaborating Teams go all the way through to video direction. You make good points about top global pop stars coming to Country, but there are a couple of huge problems. (1) The record books and significant data for the Country genre since 1927; always a distinct and subsidiary genre of popular music that sometimes crosses over into pop culture but never before the other way around except to reinvigerate a washed-up pop star's career. e.g. Dan Seals, Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty, Darius Rucker, Brenda Lee. This totally new tactic of top pop acts doing country makes the Billboard records, data and archives from 1927 through 2023 meaningless very quickly. Billboard began keeping Country genre records and data since around 1958 (Hot Country Songs; juke box chart before that) and albums since 1964 specifically for country albums ranking. All of that is being quickly diluted due to allowing Top Pop stars and their huge swath of fans into the Country charts to reduce what the country charts even mean. Here is an example. The historic Hot 100, from 1958, the first Country songs to top it were 1959-1960. They were familiar Country names. Yes in most cases these were countrypolitan songs and or artists: Johnny Horton, Jimmy Dean, and Marty Robbins. Pop crossovers yes, but absolutely known in our culture as Country artists. About 24 Country songs and artists topped this chart from 1959-2023; ending with Wallen, Aldean, Oliver Anthony & Zach Bryan. But so far in 2024, the new artists to hit #1 on this chart for the 1st time wit a country song is Beyoncè and soon-to-be Post Malone; something called a Shaboozey getting very close. Ppl will see this history in ten years and ask what happened to Country music. There are no Country acts at it's top end. The second problem is that if many, many pop artists now have Country songs then what is a country song and what is a country genre. There is going to be no genre. It is especially bad the way Beyoncè did this. With no respect to the history of the genre. Put on a hat and cowboy boots; did collabs with outspoken and unsuccessful progressive pros in the genre...almost looks like she came in to give the Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballernie and Dolly Parton types, the wanna-get-more naked types a lifeline with their careers. At least Post has been all about respecting the genre and its history.

Firstly!!! Thank you for taking the time to write this out and have a discussion about the song and process. These are the comments that make me happy to make these videos, weather i like the comment or not. I agree with mostly all you points. Like i said, I think theres a place for this kinda release. It just can't happen all the time and it's important the artist goes back to pop. unless they are going to go all in on country, like Darius Rucker. Again, Thank you for taking the time to discuss with me! -Matt
