Good job. Tomorrow after you make sure you have a good deal on all your jars, remove your rings and wash and dry them and also wash the jars, especially around the rim so your rings won’t be sticky later.

It was my first time to make it so it's all new to me. So, you're saying to take off the rings and wash and dry them and the jars? That makes sense because it seems they always want to stick. Thanks for the advice. I know that you have probably done this a thousand times.

@@markleland yes you should wait 24 hours (I really never wait that long. I wait “overnight”) and if you have a good deal on your jars you should be able to remove the rings. Wash and dry them and take a warm soapy washcloth and wash your lids/jars too then rinse and dry and put your rings back on if you want to. I store meats etc without the rings on them. That way if you have a false seal you’ll find out quickly. Storing with rings on can result in them re-sealing when they didn’t have a true seal. This is not usually an issue with jelly or jam bc of all of the sugar though.

When I can anything, the next day I remove my rings and check my seals then I make a shallow sink of warm soapy water and thoroughly wash the jars and the rings and dry everything well then replace the rings (bands) on things like jelly or jam. If it’s meat, veggies, or soup mix etc, I leave the bands off.

Perfect, love this. Are you original Mark Leland that wrote and sang Missing Pieces? I have been listening to that song for the past 8 years with tears always running down my checks. I have a grandson that is Autistic and did not speak until he was about six years old. By far one of the top songs that hit my heart every time. Thank you. He's everywhere, if we just take the time to look for him. He sends me reminders daily in the simple, not expecting things. Yesterday He sent me two deer that came out of the woods across the road at my neighbors. God's beautiful creatures. I got a laugh when one stomped his foot at me and I in turn, stomped my foot at him. I immediately thanked God for sending them. Simple pleasures.
