Got the EX-L literally a week ago. So far everything is great. I just wish Civics were smaller like they were in the 90s to about 2016.

I bought a 2024 TRD Off Road that the dealer had installed Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT tires, and TRD Pro wheels. I didn't know that much about the different trim levels at the time, and there were very few choices at the time. All in all the OR was probably the best choice for me, but I would have bought an ORP if I knew then what I know now. I went with Katzkin leather heated seats and Bilstein 8122/8100 suspension, and ended up with a great rig for my needs. I don't miss anything the Premium trim would have added.

I’ve always ended up going back to a base TRD off road trim. Couldn’t justify the huge gap with what Pros are going for.

I have been considering the 4Runner v Lexus GX. What are viewer's thoughts on the GX needing premium gas therefore adding to the long term cost for the GX?

I'm also in CO. With about a $35k budget today, would you recommend a used 4Runner or used GX460 right now? Or, do you think there's not enough value in used at the moment and it's worth spending more to get a 2024 new? Any dealers around here you recommend?
@thesilveremir2 ай бұрын
Not the easiest question to answer. Definitely a subjective choice based on your needs and preferences. Note that with the GX460 I've never driven one, so I can only make a comment based on the specs and what people have said online. This really comes down to how you plan on using this vehicle. Is it going to be dedicated to off-roading and overlanding? Or will it primarily be a daily driver with some weekend warrior trips to the mountains? Daily Driver with weekend warrior trips - The GX460 wins. This is the boat I'm in these days, and if I could trade by 4runner for a GX460 for no cost I would do it. With a wife and kid my 4runner has turned into a family hauler with light off-roading in the mountains. As a result I wish I had the V8 with a 6 speed transmission instead of the V6 with a 5 speed in the 4runner. I would also make a bold claim that 99% of 4runner owners would be better served by a GX460, because 99% of 4runner owners never crawl rocks. But the negatives - worst fuel economy and I think it recommends premium fuel. Also the rear hatch swings out instead of up. And the window does not roll down for a dog. Now for true dedicated off-roading the 4runner still wins. I believe I read the 4runner has better approach angles and better customization with aftermarket modifications. But again I think less than 1% of 4runner owners actually need those benefits. Now to answer your question about used, I checked autotrader and the options for a GX460 is more limited today compared to a year ago when I made this video. But there are still some deals for the 460. There's a few in the Denver area for 35k with under 75k miles. As for the 4runner, there's hundreds in the Denver area, with plenty under 35k. If I were in your shoes I'd answer the question first of what kind of driver will I be. Daily driver with some offroading in the weekends? Or a true dedicated overlander? And then once I answer that question I would test drive both vehicles to see if the 4runner ride quality bothers me at all. Also the used market doesn't scare me at all, I would not buy New. My 4runner is 2016 with 100k miles and it runs like a clock. Not a single thing has gone wrong with it, and I am NOT a meticulous owner when it comes to maintenance. As a result if I see a service history and carfax for any used 4runner and gx460. I would feel very confident that it would last a long time.

Honda isn’t the type of company to let you buy let’s say a sport trim and just pay a little extra for leather seats? (Considering you’re not looking to get any of the features, more of a custom build) You have to get the touring to get them?

The debate begins at Soft top or RF ! $3400 to $3600 new difference is hard to understand for the RF premium. Oh it looks better from the side - yea it also blocks your side vision. The soft top models are how the 1st Miatas came. The truth is the ND soft tops have a hard shell that extend over the roll bars making them lighter & faster overall because the RFs are top heavy. The soft tops are quieter top down than the RF which many people don't understand. Both cars have basically the same filtered drainage systems & its a good idea to avoid parking under any trees. Owner of a 2016 Club soft top so I've already been thru what could possibly go wrong. For the RF money difference the Club with the Brembo brakes / BBS wheels & Recarro seats is the way to go for enthusiasts.

Here in Australia, the 55 Series LandCruiser is colloquially known as "The Iron Pig".
@HammerRocks3 ай бұрын
I believe the biggest error Toyota US did with 200 Series Land Cruiser was only import the top spec variant. If they imported various varients, including the lower spec Land Cruiser GX (different to the Lexus GX), it would have been more affortable. Here in Australa, the price percentage difference between the low spec GX variant against the top spec Sahara variant is as much as 43%-45%. 🫨 The Prado also replaced the 4Runner in Australia. I wish we are getting the new 4Runner soon to be released. Instead we get the Hilux based Fortuner.
@HammerRocks3 ай бұрын
Fantastic summary. But you missed the 105 Series. Maybe you didn't get them in North America (just like the 70 Series which are considered legends here in Australia). The 105 Series is essentially a 100 Series with an 80 Series chassis - solid front axle, instead of the 100 Series' IFS setup. They were only offered in the first few years of the 100 Series release, and only in the lower spec variants - they were targeted at farmers, first reponders, resource & utility companies. Here in Australia, they are now highly sought after by hard offroad wheelers. They give a more modern and comfortable interior of the 100 Series with the offroad uber capable chassis of the 80 series.

Trd off-road premium is the absolute best. 4Runner = 4x4. Buying a new truck wasn't really a need for me It was a want. I don't need four-wheel drive just like I don't need a new truck. I wanted one. And if I'm going to spend upwards of $40,000 or even 50 now in 2024 for a brand new 4x4 I'm going to get all the bells and whistles.

I was looking for a TRD Pro last month and could not find one unless I wanted to pay 64k which was a 10k premium. I ended up getting the TRD Off Road Premium with the Kdds. I like it and with all the “TRD Pro” extras it was still 10k less than the pro.

The 11 generation Honda Accord is the best design to date, it's very stylish, elegant design. In my opinion the LX or EX Turbo straight gasoline powered engine is your best value. Although you're going to save more on gas when purchasing one of the Hybrid models, saving is exactly what you should be doing as repairs on the Hybrid will nearly bankrupt the average individual. Due to the high tech engineering, complexity of this Hybrid set-up you will have no chance of getting repairs preformed without returning to your local Honda dealership.
