That’s Wizard is legit a really fun game. I got to play test it at Ironweld I believe?? I plan on picking up a copy whenever it comes out. The best way I could describe the game is World of Warcraft Arenas but in the form of a card game. Very cool.

I hsve speech mannerisms too, bit consider training hard or even hiring a speech pathologist to help you get over "like" being every third word you say. Had to stop watching at 29:57

Thanks for sharing! It's so fascinating to get the "behind-the-scenes" on people who have successfully made their passion their career. I LOVE the intersection of entertainment and business, and especially TTRPGs. Obviously, there's the podcast space. I think there's probably a lot more opportunity for modest incomes in the kids and camps space (I did a D&D "camp" in Berkley CA in the 90s as middle schooler). I've run across people who do D&D as corporate team building. However, I think there are also a TON of interesting potential uses for TTRPGs that aren't big yet. Right now, I'm chatting with indie authors in Austin, TX. I'm trying to convince a critical mass of them to band together and do a short, "live play" TTRPG session set in their fictional worlds to promote their books. Authors tend to be super busy (day job + writing), so it's even harder to schedule with them that regular folk. But I could see it becoming a much more fun, authentic way to promote your books than endless shilling on social media. Also, I think there's a huge potential for DMs to collaborate with authors and creatives who have a Patreon. Work out a deal with big Patreons where there's a premium subscriber tier for games set in the worlds to their favorite creator, and there's huge upside for both the creator and the DM.

All respect to career DMs, but I don't think it's something I could do myself. A lot of artists already struggle with turning art into a job, feeling the pressure to conform to the tastes of a distant audience. With TTRPGs, you're selling your creative spirit to people in the same room as you, people who could very well say "we're not paying if you don't take this in the direction we want". I don't think I could tolerate the level of frustration that would involve.
