Let’s do it by weight of mammals 🤔 (since human mammals aren’t the only consumers of natural resources…) ok ? 300million tons of humans. 100million tons of wildlife. 700 million tons of domestic mammals. So who’s the culprit? Refine the question 🤷🏽♂️ How many middle class vegans could the earth support ? How many middle class meat eaters could the earth support ?

There have always been floods, droughts, rising, and lowering sea levels. These things have always been. Hurricane Katrina was warned about for several decades. It was just a matter of time. It’s not related to the new “climate“.

With the advantage of observing the last 10 years since prof. Cohen delivered this interview, its easier to see that he is correctly well aware that population growth is a natural phenomena and that is basically dependent on information and education. It has been that way since the beggining . Problem is that financial elites are mainly greedy and wealth accumulation resulted in scandalous numbers such as those shown in 2019 by the Wealth Report from Credit Suisse. There you will find that 2153 persons appropriated almost half of global wealth (48%) that in terms of population needs stands for the riches of 4.5 billon of persons!!. So the old Malthusian concept that growth is limited by resources is absolutely wrong. Problem is the most shamefull lack of wealth distribution and not the scarcity of food. On the other hand, as prof. Sergei Kapitza has shown in his voluminous research is that we humans are passing through a revolution in terms of growth, that will end, left to their own resources, when underdeveloped countries arrive at their own low tax of fertility as already happens with developed countries. But we have to recognize that the elite has decided to artificially depress fertility with human gene modifiers like the dangerous Covid 19 vaccine. So, the growth model will certainly loose its validity and human future looks darker as never before...

The correct pronunciation is KOPENHAGEN as in Haagen Dazs ice cream, [which in itself is a phony spelling that does not exist in American-English] or as in AH! NOT the way you claim most prefer as in the english pronunciation.... YOU ARE NOT CORRECT! Danish people do NOT pronounce it the way you say or think it s/be pronounced! The problem is that most Americans think it should be pronounced the way they think it should be pronounced, because they do not have a clue about foreign languages. People who come from a certain country know best how to actually pronounce their own language., as do those who are familiar with foreign languages. But, most Americans can't even pronounce their own words or language correctly... see ROOF... some say roff..they pronounce it too fast, .like a 'puff' of air... LOL; it s/be pronounced slowly like boot, or you're a hoot, etc. The general rule is that two vowels [a,e,i,o, u] next to each other are usually pronounced slow and two consonants [the rest of the letters in the alphabet] next to each other are pronounced fast...bitter, butter, letter, mad hatter, etc

This is a complex issue because right now we have a space issue, If we started building housing that was multilayered and small like some places in japan there would be much more space for farm land, but we are also talking about putting farmland in africa and other remote areas where nobody has plans to do so in a major way in the next 10 years. But i believe we could sort out the food problem it'd be the air problem that caused major and serious problems. Right now we are basically looking at for the good of human kind china and India kind of need a nuke, they are massively over populated areas.

The first sentence is a fantastic example of the modern English speaker's lazy, horrible enunciation. On the plus side, lazy-mouthed speakers are the best candidates for 'drunk' speech, achieved by playing the speaker back at 0.75x or 0.5x, if you are using KZbin. Two other great American examples if you want to play drunk speech are Seth Meyers and, the champion of terrible enunciation, Anderson Cooper.

The state of knowledge of our population scientists is unconscionably bad, and Joel Cohen is one of them. To the best of our knowledge we must consume resources, such as fossil fuels, faster than they renew in order to keep our current numbers alive. Obviously there are too many people. Obviously we must average less than 2 babies until we no longer require the use of fossil fuels to keep our numbers alive. The last time we humans manage to keep our numbers alive using only sustainable means, our numbers were below 1 billion. Not once does Cohen mention this blatantly obvious potential horror of premature death hanging over our heads in response to "is it too many people, or too few people?". This is stunning ignorance.
@johntaves19 жыл бұрын
Joel Cohen and all other population scientists have failed to comprehend population properly. Question: How many people can the Earth Support in 2015? Answer: about 7.2b. Q: How many people can the Earth Support in 1915? Answer: about 1.7b Why? Because the population has always been at the limit. It was at the limit 10000 years ago. It was at the limit in 1915. It was at the limit in 2015, and it will be at the limit next year. As long as our population scientists, like Joel Cohen, continue to ignore reality we have no hope of correcting this. What concepts are Joel Cohen failing to comprehend? Well, reproduction attempts exponential population growth. That attempt has never succeeded. It has always been clipped by the finite nature of this environment. Cohen argues that reproduction does not result in exponential growth, and he's right. But the simple math behind the concept is that it IS ATTEMPTING to. Why is it failing? Is it failing because we magically limit the number of babies we average to ensure it does not hit the limit, or is the population at the limit and the population growth is nothing more than the limit being changed? There has always been groups of people suffering starvation related child mortality. Starvation related child mortality is the proof that our population numbers are at the limit. The only reason these people died is because the other people prevented them from getting the sustenance that naturally grows on this planet. Notice the dreadful logic Cohen uses here. He is saying that more people can be packed in if we improve food distribution, and countless other factors. He's right, more can be, but he offers no explanation as to how our numbers will not immediately fill that new capacity. He offers no explanation as to how our numbers were not always at the limit. Not once does he suggest that births can arrive too fast, attempting to cram too many people into this space and killing as a consequence of that.

If my neighbor decides to have 10 kids, then my neighbor is taking away my rights to clean air, and a stable climate as well as many other things, because when each of those kids reach the age of 16, they will all be polluting my air and my climate with their automobiles, and they will require more forests to be converted into arable land to feed them, which futhermore is taking away my right to higher oxygen levels (oxygen is decreasing every year see scrippso2.ucsd.edu/ ), such a family requires more rooms, and more energy to heat and cool, which furthermore pollutes my air especially when you live near a coal plant, not to mention the amount of material required to produce the same energy in terms of solar panels or wind turbines, whose precious metal parts come from destructive mines and from pig iron collected from rain forests. With the numbers of people on this planet, even if we did not use electricity at all, we would still be changing the climate, perhaps not as quickly, by cutting down forests and burning wood for food and heating. And if you happen to live in a drought stricken area, that neighbor who decided to have kids is taking away your right to clean water as well as sufficient amounts of water, especially if you share an aquifer. I do not think limiting the number of children per woman is out of the question. Perhaps limiting to 1 is going too far, but how about to 3 children. There will always be those that never marry and have kids, so allowing women to have up to 3 children each would probably keep the population at a sustained level. However this will solve nothing if its not adopted worldwide. As with china, their 1 child policy drove many to immigrate to other countries, where they are then free to have their 10 kids, when then becomes a question of immigrants taking away your rights. And if you're a man and want more than 3 children, just practice polygamy and each wife can have 3 children, therefore if you had 3 wives, you could have 9 children. So instead of having 10 children replacing 2 people in the world, you could have 9 children replacing 4 people.

I'll try to be short and sweet :) Nat' parks attract tourists=money. Poor Locals see opportunity in the wildlife and the tourists so they congregate. But being poor and crap farmers they get hungry=poachers. I see the parks as a perfect area to breed not just parade what's there. By this I mean, if there is no food outside the parks why not (like in private estates etc) breed quick breeding animals with minimal environmental impact? Guinea fowl, Franklin, scrub hares etc etc, the things normally taken for granted. Reason being these smaller game animals are far more likely to keep the villagers and so forth from coming into the parks because they will leave the park boundaries and if given a chance (in numbers) establish where they are no longer being 'poached' There are always people outside the parks, never any larger wild animals. And certainly no domestic cattle etc, mostly due to tsetse fly. So what do they eat? I reckon fowl pens etc within the parks are the answer. Any comments?
