I’m extremely late to the party, but I just need to get this out somewhere. I’m 17, I’m just some kid. I wasn’t even in school when TAI broke apart. But I need the world to know how much their music has not only inspired my own writing, but helped me through so much shit in general. Every song of theirs brings me so much pure, unbridled joy. To me, they’re what euphoria sounds like. The feeling of looking at yourself in the mirror and loving who you see. The feeling of bolting down the highway on a summer night with the windows down. The feeling of laughing so hard with your friends that your stomach hurts. Even the sadder songs bring me so much bittersweet happiness. I found TAI later in my journey of self-discovery, but they’ve touched my soul in a way unique to any other artist I admire. They helped me feel alive for the first time. While the fact I was hardly alive during the peak of TAI bites at me, the knowing I’ll never see them live at their heyday, I’m happy I can help keep the legacy going. Like William said in the video, I too feel like I exist to help people through my art. His music helped me find that out. And I hope by some otherworldly force that I can see him perform one day. So what I’m trying to say in this jumbled nonsense called words is thank you. As I prepare to go out into the real world, I know I will continue to have TAI as a safe place to run to in the good times and bad times. Mr. Beckett, if you somehow see this, know that your art continues to help people in incredible ways. Thank you.
