Great ideas! (though you may want to check the meaning of "joggle, "juggle" and "jog"...maybe?")

keep ur talking to end, what did u try to say miss ?
I didn't totally understand the game, you I put the hat to one of student and others start making question with for example which and the student should guess which wh question are they talking about? In that case the game will finish in a second

الهه این کلاه کاغذی رو که گذاشتی روی سر یکی از بچه ها بقیه باید اون WH question word ای که روی کلاه نوشته رو استفاده کنن تا ازش سوال بپرسن. هر چند تا که می تونن. اونم باید جواب بده.
@ELTwithsarvy60759 ай бұрын
این که زود تموم میشه لزوما بد نیست. اون زبان آموزی که کلاه روی سرش گذاشته رو عوض کن. به بقیه این فرصت رو بده که روی اون صندلی جلوی بقیه بشینن تا ازشون سوال بپرسن.

That's a great idea! One variation that came to my mind was having students in pairs, so one says a possible answer for a question with the word on the hat and the student who wears the hat comes up with a question using the question word. The focus is to find out which word is on the hat. Here's a model: Student A wears a hat with the word WHAT A: (listens to partner) B: My name is Bruno. A: WHAT is your name?

@@ELTwithsarvy6075 Unfortunately, there was very little communication happening within the entire lesson Most of it was endless explicit instruction about grammar, much of which was lost on the student. When she did finally get a chance to communicate at around 37 minutes in, you focused far more on the form and accuracy of what the student was saying than actually conversing with her, rewarding only her correct use and "punishing" incorrect use instead of engaging with the interesting thigns she had to say. The resulted in so many lost opportunities for genuine communication, and you trying to force the grammar upon the student at the expense of her trying things out. All of this could have been done by her on her own with a book or the internet. A couple of seconds of explicit focus here and there is fine and can support the student in noticing form, but it shouldn't be a majority of the lesson. I think a big part of the problem is the material you are using. We don't learn grammar by rote practice like this, and all of this explicit "is it a plan, is it already arranged, etc, is too much. You are making the assumption that by labeling whether things are plans or arrangements etc, that she'll be able to use these in speech. Linguistic forms, like these ways of expressions the future (they aren't tenses) are acquired very slowly and piecemeal through lots and lots of practice and input. And its unfortunate to watch someone go through a coursebook activity by activity with a one to one student, a context which provides a perfect opportunity for genuine communication. In summary, this lesson doesn't align with what we know about how people learn languages, and it seems ultimately demotivating and very teacher centered. What would have made this great: Tell the student you are going to talk about the next year and her plans for the year. Demo the task: share your calendar and walk her through your upcoming year, discussing your plans, hopes, potential plans, arrangements, etc. Encourage her to ask questions throughout. Then, have her share her calendar with you and make some comparisons. Who has a busier year coming up? What might be some months that are difficult to fit in English classes? Why? etc. Finally, let her do the task: ask her to present "the next year in her life" using a calendar: her goals, plans, hopes, etc. Give her some quiet time to prepare and then do the task. As she does, listen carefully and take notes on her language, and afterwards focus on some of her sentences and upgraded versions, explaining a bit of form. Then, everything is meaningful, actually about the learner, and gives her a variety of genuine practice within a real context. Will she master the future forms in the session? absolutely not, that's not how it works. Instead, she'll improve her ability to use them, and lots of other useful language will emerge : vocabulary and lexis that helps her communicate, turn taking, asking questions, listening skills, etc, which will give her holistic practice with language. Accuracy follows this kind of practice, it doesn't precede it.

There are no videos. This is the teaser of a lesson we are about to teach. Every week on Fridays we have club hours. Students will choose those clubs based on their interests. With this video we were trying to tell our students what they will learn in Filmmaking club so that those who are interested will join us! 😊
