It's a shame it's not working with the Rode wireless pro but I'm pretty sure if you cut the cable and solder the 3 pins of the jack differently it will work.

Great video. Thank you. One thing i found is that as more and more companies are putting out wireless equipment, the frequency that they all use ( 2.6 GHz) will get so congested that these items will be more prone to losing the signal. And timecode is a must. Agree.

Rode hinted in their Q&A video that the ability to jam the Rode will come via fw. For now, use the rode as the master, and I'm sure it's not ideal, but it works.

I have (2) Wireless Pro Systems. Two things they should add are these. #1- A way to to Jam Sync Timecode from an external device or at the very least, a way to Sync 2 or more receivers to each other. #2 - A Timecode Mode where Left channel outputs Transmitter 1, Right channel outputs Transmitter 2, and the USB can output or input Timecode. This would make these units infinitely better. I would hope these can be achieved via firmware.

It was great, explained clearly and simply. If you want an idea for another video, a list with animated vignettes would be nice. These are things that are used a lot in programs like Powerpoint and are easy to do, but here in Fusion it gets a little complicated 😓 Greetings
@richardweeks Жыл бұрын
Create 'simple' lists is a little harder in Fusion for sure, especially if trying to create a reusable control. However, here is a cool trick to use Powerpoint or Keynote and incorporate those animations into a video: The DP Journey creates fantastic videos using this technique that he discusses here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnuQdHV8hcajircsi=BGgXWQWFTX-kDQ3M If you would send me an image of the type of list you want to make, I'll certainly give it a go,

Great break down on Rode Wireless Pro. For indoor talking head, would you stick with Sennheiser AVX-MKE2 or make a move to RODE Wireless Pros?
@richardweeks Жыл бұрын
The Mic (lav) will have the biggest impact on sound quality. I use a DPA 4060 or a Sanken COS-11D. The nice feature of the Rode system is dual transmitters to single receiver and of course onboard recording which is great in a crowded air space with dropouts. So I can monitor the audio and also know that I get backup recordings which is huge. The 2.4ghz spectrum can get noisy in environments such as ballpark, stadium or large events. I have an MKE2 lav - should make a comparison video of the difference a lav can make. For the indoor talking head do you also book with something like MKH 50? Also are you recording to camera or field recorder?
@JoshuaBelanger Жыл бұрын
@@richardweeks Self-creator who does talking head videos. Looking for simple and great sound. I've used the the RODE GO II and DJI in the past. I traded out of the DJI for The AVX because the DJI had a hiss with certain lavs in the past. I record directly into camera.
@richardweeks Жыл бұрын
Yeah I too had a lot of issues with the DJI system. I used an AVX system for years and it was and still is great, very reliable system. The questions you need to ask yourself 1) do you need multiple TX? 2) locking 3.5 audio jack? Also on the avx. 3) basic time code 4) on board recording. If any of these features appeal to you it might be worth it. I will say that both are great right out of the box however I’d give a sound quality edge to the mke2 lav mic over the rode lav mics. Again you can always upgrade your lav mic as you need based on your budget etc. hope this helps. Let me know what you end up doing. Edit: also easier to use a 3.5 into other cameras if you don’t have easy access to XLR inputs.

A product being used on a local news broadcast isn't the stamp of authenticity that you think it is. Also, that footage is terribly over exposed, and they didn't even try to grade the midtones down into something half-decent, even though the detail in the mids is intact. Those guys aren't very pro, IMO

Great video 👍🏽 I have the dji wireless 🛜 I’m satisfied with them. But I need a solution to have on one more set of wireless mics. I have 3 cameras and would like to have 2 wireless sets for 4 people. Do you have any ideas of how I would go about this? 1 dji and 1 rode pro ? Would that work?
@richardweeks Жыл бұрын
as both allow for onboard recording you can always just sync in post with waveform matching - most NLEs are pretty good at this now. The big thing to really consider is the sound profile of each system - as the internal mics do have a different sound to them. but as long as your not swapping the TX from one shot to another, that is person 1 is always using TX 1, then you wont have to worry about someone sound different throughout the video. most of these systems can be closely EQ matched as long as you get pretty good sound at the source. hope that helps.
@pajisounds Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. That was a very detailed and good answer. Hope that many people can take part of your video and also use your answer here in the comments. May I be bold and ask one more question? if I have two DJI mic sets for a total of 4 people, do you think there could be interference? Or is it the case that the receivers have different frequencies so it doesn't cross-record or something like that?@@richardweeks

I just ordered the exact same 3.5mm to micro USB cable from B&H thinking it will work with Rode Wireless Pro to Sony FX3. Can I use 3.5mm audio cable to jam time sync from wireless pro to FX3?
@AaronAbernethy9 ай бұрын
@@perfectposesTo jam sync on FX3 you’ll need something that uses the Micro-USB (or multiport as Sony calls it). At the minute the RODE Wireless Pro doesn’t seem to be able to do that with the Tentacle Sync cable. It will send Timecode over 3.5mm into the audio record port, but that is audio embedded - it will need to remain connected that way. I’m hoping for a firmware update from RØDE sometime soon that will allow the Tentacle cable to work, since it’s easily the tidiest and most cost effective option.
@RandumbTech Жыл бұрын
Awesome!! I hate carrying around that ginormous one from Sony. Are you sure it doesn't work with Rode Wireless Pro? I think there are multiple timecode settings for it and if you are in the wrong one, it won't put out a strong enough line signal for the camera to read.

@richardweeks Жыл бұрын
@@VerriCarlos both the fx3 and others like it do not hold timecode very well. in practice, i leave a tc generator attached to the camera - generally a deity tc-1 as i really like them. i've not tested how much an fx3 drifts and honestly there are many factors to such a test - weather/temp, etc. in a stable environment, the timecode might not drift much, but at the end of the day it's just easier to have a tc box attached and not worry about it.
