This video has been very helpful in painting a picture for what struggles my boyfriend may face when I leave for basic. Historically we've always been glued to one another so it will be a big change for the both of us. Since so many are sharing their stories, so will I. This video is amazin and I think you did a great job. This really helped calm my nerves. I've been with my bf for 2 and half years. He had to leave for training for about 5 months this year. He just got back in late May and I was in my home state for my Grandmothers funeral. He told me suddenly how he has to go on rotation to S Korea for 9 MONTHS. I just felt like i got him back. We had June to spend time together and he left in July. It was so hard for us both. We were just starting to finally live our lives together. We met online and never got those chances to spend time in person, he has a super strict controlling family and busy a lot. When I got to finally see him, it was our first time sleeping in a bed together and we quickly got used to each other, loving every minute. I got to help him pack and I saw him off. It was so heartbreaking and a new experience for me. Now it's all up to me to move everything to our first new place. My Dad has copd and isn't doing well, don't know how much time he has left. This year has been A LOT and I've been alone for most of it. Handling a lot alone...but it's all worth it. Your video helps so much. I don't feel so alone and it made me realize how independent I've grown and will keep growing. I've struggled a lot and I never thought I would be here or do this much on my own, it makes me proud of myself and for my relationship as well. Gosh I miss him so much. I've been struggling thinking how will I get by these 9 months and hoping my Dad will still be here when my bf returns because I really want them to meet.

Thank you so much for the advice, I feel much better now knowing that what I'm feeling is normal. I met my boyfriend (Marines) in person knowing that he was leaving in a month to boot camp, we were just sorta friends at first, then right before he left we got into a misunderstanding and didn't talk for 5 months. Until out of the blue he called me and we started texting again ,we started dating a month before he came home. He came home for a two week leave on Christmas (and a relationship is very new to the both of us , him being 18 and I 16) and he just recently left again,and we are trying our best to stay in contact as much as we can and both understand that we still have stuff to do as well. Just trying to make this relationship work. Thank you for the video.

Hello! I just started watching your military videos, and I have a question. How did you feel the first time Danny left for boot camp or deployment? I'm not sure what the situation was like for both of you and if he was already in the military when you two got together or if he had just started when yall got together. But I also want to know how you coped. Me and my boyfriend just graduated this week on Tuesday when I'm typing this comment, and we are both 18 years old, and he is leaving for boot camp for the marines in 2 months, and won't be back until the end of November maybe the first week of December, and the only way we can communicate is through letters. (he leaves on August 15th) and the past two days I've been heartbroken and shattered and he hasn't even left yet. Maybe it's because I now know the day he is leaving and it's all starting to hit me at once. I know I will get over this sadness within the next couple of days because I have had moments where I have cried because I knew he was leaving and I was imagining the day he leaves but it wasn't as bad as the past two days. We are both super open and communicative, and we are both willing to try and fight for our relationship, and we have both told each other this. I don't think there has been a moment where I didn't think I could do this, yet I'm sad, and I want to know how to handle the situation. This is all new for both of us and would appreciate some advice!💗
@Lolitsbrooke
@Lolitsbrooke 2 жыл бұрын
First off, congratulations on your graduation! This is such an exciting time of life and such a big step for you both. It’s always tough (especially leading up to them leaving/the first week of them being gone) not to say that it’s not difficult throughout the entirety of their leave, but it gets easier, you get busier, etc. boot camp is a little tricker in its own way because of the lack of communication that can happen between you two, and for him in general because this is a whole new world he is entering into and a lot is going to change for him. My number 1 tip is to be that support system for him, because he’s going to need it. Write daily, if you have to. (I don’t know much about the marines as Danny is in a different branch of the navy) but they won’t get to write to you everyday. I believe they get one day for that (not 100% sure though) but write him and give him things to look forward to reading, make him feel included. I know this is going to feel like a lifetime with him being gone, but years from now when y’all are looking back on this time it won’t always feel that way. When Danny is away keeping myself busy is a must! It helps the time pass tremendously. Me being in school for that portion of that also helped a ton!! Y’all have got this and are going to kick boot camps bootie!! I wish you both the best of luck. ♥️
@jinxedboo986

@@Lolitsbrooke Thank you! 💕 I think when he goes to boot camp, I will write him every day explaining how my day went, what I did, how I felt that day, and that I miss him. I think I'll take pictures for him and print them out, and put them in my letters so he can see maybe what I ate for dinner, or "Oh! I got a new plant" etc. I know I will have his family, my family, and friends along with work to keep me sane and busy, but I don't know anyone who is going or went through the same thing, so I feel so alone in this, so your videos and comment really helped! Just yesterday I went to his graduation party, and his dad told me they want to take me with them when they go see him graduate from boot camp, so I am excited because that is another thing to look forward to besides seeing him again. One more question too, me and my mom were talking the other day, and she said to be prepared for when my boyfriend gets back from boot camp because he won't be the same. Is that true? I told my bf about it, and he said not to worry about what she said and that he will be the same old Gabriel I know just a little tougher. Thank you again, this really helped! 💖

Thank you so much for this video. I’m extremely fresh into a military relationship and I’ve been trying to kinda get some kinda understanding of the schedule cause I’ve been really upset about not talking to him as much. And now I honestly feel bad because I let other people get in my head about him and I feel like I made him feel like he’s doing something wrong and not good enough for me. But he’s really so good to me so I feel terrible. Do you know how I could make it up to him?
@Lolitsbrooke
@Lolitsbrooke 2 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad my video was able to help you in anyway. I know it’s really tough to get a grasp on this lifestyle sometimes, but you’ve got this! It takes a lot of getting used to when their schedules change from the “norm“ that you’ve been used to. You could always just get him a little something to let him know that you were thinking of him. I’m not sure if he’s where you are, on deployment, in Boot Camp, or what the situation is. But if he’s away you can always send him a little care package! I think those just had the sweetest touch and are very sentimental. ♥️ Good luck to you both!
