you used to be my teacher back in like 2017-2019 and my brothers in like 2010-2015. do you still teach karate at crescent town club? i remember buying a bogu for around 80-90$ and left it at the dojo during covid then had to move. if you still teach there i was wondering if i could take it back if it was fine and if you still teach there

THIS noble of you to teach. This shows Karado-Do exercise techniques (Don't try this in a real life situation or even in a contact-sport arena, such as UFC.. 'cos you'll get knocked clean out in under 3 seconds. The problem is all your power potential is never "let go" in other words, look at the reaction to each strike.. there ISN'T ANY. With all due respect this is a safety conscious demononstration, akin to a non-contact boxing match - Not hating, just sayin'g.saying.. you might as well not bothered with the safety gear

I wish I had taken a video of this street and entrance in 1983 when I went to Tokyo to train directly w O-Sensei Hisataka Masayuki. My apt. was 14 min walking distance south east of the dojo and I would go there 3 or 4 nights a week, depending on my english teaching schedule.

1.05 that kick was end show, if there was no protection. Now the opponent can grasp him afterwards, not in a real situation. But this is far better then all the semi contact. And punches to the face makes it real, very nice to watch.

@@Torontokoshiki I did not mean to offend. That is what I see and I've been doing Okinawan karate for more than 50 years. I assume you have more experience than I?
@Torontokoshiki
@Torontokoshiki 3 жыл бұрын
@@mattgreene4780 this style of karatedo is very different to anything you would have seen. It is shorinjiryu kenkokan from the Kudaka familly, the man demonstrating is the first son of the kudaka familly and heir to the familly style which for 600 years protected Kudaka Island a most holy island off Okinawa believed to be the birthplace of the Gods. Their style is based on full contact training and fighting to develop a true budo ka. This style has produced some of the best professional fighters including Nathan Carnage Corbett who went form this style to win 11 world muay thai championships. Look up the Kudaka familly pronounced Hisataka in Japanese and you will see that this style is no joke. You can also look at my other videos and see its effectiveness. Osu.
@mattgreene4780

@@Torontokoshiki It is okay to defend one's style and you have defended yours. However, Hisataka's karate is not Okinawan. It may have Okinawan roots but their influence is no longer present. Furthermore, Okinawan karate does not go back 600 years; I'd say to the Satsuma invasion at most. The fighters of this school are aggressive. And they do not move as they do when performing kata. And that is a good thing. But calling it full contact when body armor is worn is not proper. Full contact refers to fighting without body protection and gloves. The biggest issue I have with the demonstration by Mas Hisataka is his lack of correct biomechanics. And additionally his lack of energy generation and energy transfer. The fellow moves like a mechanical robot. In what athletic endeavour do people move like that? None. I've seen his kata and they are poorly executed also. I've said enough, you have a right to practice the art of your choice. Perhaps we can meet someday and you can criticize my karate, I am not as young as I once was.
@Torontokoshiki
@Torontokoshiki 3 жыл бұрын
@@mattgreene4780 first of all it is most definitely full contact, which matters not that you are using protective gear, full contact techniques are allowed to the body and head. Until you have faught luke this and had a hard hitting guy trying to literally knock your head off you really have no informed opinion. As for mechanics again you have no idea. Our mechanics are developed for full body extensions and delivery of maximum power, I have karateka from all the major styles come to me with the proper mechanics you speak of that need to be retaught our way in order to make their techniques truly powerful. I have had many professional fighters marvel at the power i can generate with our "bad mechanics". Out style was built on using kendo chest shields with bare hands to develop real weapons. Try that someday and then let me know your thoughts. Maybe buy my book and learn something about real body mechanics its on Amazon. Called Hard Contact Karate. Let me know the name of your book and I'll buy it and let you know what I think 👍👊

Thanks it's my mom on the piano. It's a really different sound as it replaces most of the orchestra with the steel pans. A type of music now known as classics n steel. My mother was the first to do this. Se was producer and arranger on all her shows. The strings are the top players from the Simon bolivar symphony orchestra in Venezuela. Cheers

Woah, wait... What is this??? It looked like Kudo at first, but it doesn't seem to allow knees, elbows, headbutts, leg kicks, throws, wrestling take-downs, clinching, ground and pound, or submissions. It's also not continuous, and there are body protectors... What exactly, if I may ask, would you consider to be the advantages in this over Kudo? Based on a quick search, this seems to have just preceded kudo, and likely inspired the vision of kudos founder. I suspect this was a building point for him. Also, curiously, what do you think of Kudo? Since I assume you have a background in Koshiki.
@Torontokoshiki
@Torontokoshiki 6 жыл бұрын
Yes kudo came from koshiki. There are throws and takedowns but they are not scored only the follow up technique. The chest shields allow us to not only fight but train with full contact. Kudo is a little more designed to be closer to mma where as koshiki is a contact karate tournament where the focus is on the striking. Cheers
@gesshugh9976
@gesshugh9976 6 жыл бұрын
Ah, so it's a bit less rounded, but you get to focus more on technique. Makes sense, then, thanks!
