Fantastic player, electric pace, phenomenal acceleration. For a smaller player he was incredibly resilient too. Happy memories of seeing Kevin play in so many good Dundee United sides.

Just looked at this match again and what impressed me most, apart from the effort from all the players, was George Smith's excellent refereeing. What a change from today - where most contact not tolerated, bookings for everything and that VAR! Great United won but the Final was a bitter disappointment. We were tired that week.

As a celtic fan I have to be honest and say that aberdeen and dundee united gave us lots of problems firstly in alex ferguson and jim mcClean they had 2 of the very best managers I loved watching players like Paul sturrock Ralph milne,eamon bannon and hegarty and narey at the back and it's amazing to think that In 2024 dundee utd are still the only team to beat Barcelona home and away in Europe,and then fergies team dominated Europe,Leighton, mcCleish and Miller were amongst the best in Europe,and players like Strachan,Hewitt,mcghee,weir, Cooper and Simpson great teams scottish football could do with them today

The old firm didnt live in their shadow,as chic young puts it. Rangers did. Celtic won more titles in the 80s than anyone else. This was a sad day for scottish football. Utd have never been the same since with 3 miserable relegations. Souness and his millions,along with bosman ruined scottish football.
