Two things , the sony official charger is 98usd , and it charges 1 battery , if i am charging them over night and i am not waking up to put another one on charge i only have one charged battery... With the tri charge i will still have 3 batteries by the morning and its lile 30$ more. Usb pass through will be nice. Card reader aint really necessary let the charger be a charger i guess. And yes i love what dji does , first every battery will be taken to the same voltage or charge level then all three will charge at the same time

There is a place for multi chargers but that doesn't make the one inside this '3 dock' a good one. There are 2 charger solutions now even from sony (They just released a new one) or something very cheap that works way better as a charger : "ISDT NP2 Air Camera Battery Charger". If you also use the camera as a charger (cameras past 2020 will be fine and quick) you can also charge 3 batteries. Like i stated in the review i like the idea here but the extra price, size has to be compensated in my view by being a good charger and it simply is not. If a $30 can charge 2 batteries correctly at the same time, has bluetooth and app control sends me notify messages when done etc etc it shows they could have made nicer internals.

@@TECH3_ i can see that i am glad sony finally made it usb as power input and 2 slots. If need be you can charge one in camera from 1 powerbank so you can still charge 3 batts at the same time they just make you pay the price i guess. But i am about to order a A1II and thats a expensive charger too :) ... MAYBE it will come with the dual charger ill try to find out hmmm

That's not all. You also need to disable HDR (D-RO is still ok) and choose a drive mode with single shooting. Basically anything besides Continous shooting, continous self-timeout or continous bracketing. So single shooting, single self-timer or single bracket (including WB and DRO bracketting) is fine. Tested on a6400.

Thanks for this cool video, i did watch all three parts. I have received just today 1 cooling fan from Smallrig (4815 model) for zve1 camera. I see it working very well (external hdmi 1080p streaming and internal 4k 140 422 recording). Unfortunately at the same time the Fan is shouting so loud that I feel it is not useful... Have You tried one of these? Ulanzi better and more quiet in your experience or opinion? Thanks again for your very balanced and well thought videos on this topic! Take care and greetings from lapland Finland

Not sure if you knew but i help smallrig on designs in the past and about 6 months ago talked a lot to them and some of the ideas have made it into their 2 fans for sony. I personally use the 4348 but both will work on the zv-e1. I just didn't make a video on the coolers yet.

@@scb2scb2 Ok Daniel, i really knew about that, tell the truth. I have seen your wise comments elsewhere on this topic (overheating fix),,, Thats why i commenting as stands above... I think You are a top guy with a lot of knowhow. Anyway i am disappointed (noisewise that is) after long wait trying my 4815 cooling fan today - its fan is full power full constantly blowing my ears popping out - This version propably not as good as yours because i cannot manually regulate anything, its just too noisy from the start. I think your 15$ fix is the best, propably going to buy Ulanzi and try it out - disappointed with 4815... anyways, Keep up good work! ;)

@@maranata5712 Thanks, yes the active coolers (not just a fan) make more noise for the 'fan only' look at the ulanzi one i made a 3d printed mount for v1 but i see they now also make a v2. The issue with active elements is that they take 15+ watts vs 1watt (fan) so more heat is involved.

Allright, appreciate the input in this video! Will surely bring some of it to the notebook. Couple of things you mention here is stuff that you "think" could work. If you've ever used a CF express reader, you've seen the size of those units too. One of the reasons they are that big is because of heat dissipation. IF we were to implement card readers for a total of 8 cards, that would make the unit way more expensive due to different material. As for the charging, i agree that the unit has some flaws, but you're not comparing it to any other unit that charges 3 batteries. Comparing the powerbank size/weight towards the tri charge isn't fair either imho. One of them is a dedicated powerbank and the Tri-Charge is a charger with the possibility to use the batteries as a powerbank. A lot of the things you bring up in this video is just your personal opinions on what should nbe improved, without any knowledge about how these implementations would affect the design. And lastly, i never mentioned that the unit had power pass through, but it would be great if it did =).

Thanks for the reply. i won't respond step by step but will address a few. The fact that it slows down with 3 batteries in (2 that are full) on the last battery is just not acceptable and so are some of the other results really. I hope you agree with the fact that only one part becomes warm signals that there are no different channels for each battery. I have others (2 channel) that do have that and they hardly get warm. Making all slots readers is too much but i think on either side 1 express-a and 1 flash card reader would help a lot with the extra weight and size this has to justify. Heat should not be a problem since the battery part would be inactive at that point. Maybe express-b might be a heat issue since they run hotter than express-a but think its doable. The size overhead is large compared to some others for example the dji action4 battery 3 charger allows for powerbank function as well and is less overhead. I understand and have been involved in the design of products and its not easy but i do feel the electronics inside are not up to what it should be and it lets the idea down. I mean it when i say i hope they are willing to design a v2. I stand by many of my comments not to blast your work but in the hope they are willing to work on it more the simple fact is its biggest job charging batteries is not great and slower than many other 2 slots solutions and can you really tell me how it makes sense that with 2 full batteries if i drop in the 3 its slower than with just 1 battery in? I really like the idea but at 4x the price of a good dual charger and its size/weight it has to compensate with better performance and multi functional use. I hope Jupio will work with you again to make a better product even if i don't know all the internal issues and considerations i am convinced this is not the best possible result in 2024. Let me know if in the future you need more feedback or something i got the tri-charge for 100 euro won't return it that was not the reason i made the video the goal is to make better products...

@@scb2scb2 I understand your poiunts, but you can't compare it to any standard chargers becasue they can't holster your batteries, nor can you store SD cards in any of the other ones you compared it to. But all feedback is good =)
@scb2scb2
@scb2scb2 4 ай бұрын
@@PeterLindgren1 well i hope you and jupio consider my points doing a long discussion and trying to score points doesn't help anyone so i won't. But given that i agree and like the holster function let me sum up it as such if the holster function is a 50euro value (seems fair) that leaves 50euro's for the charger part(s) and for 50 euro's its not a great charger. I hope they/you can make a v2 that does the holster function justice by adding a better featured charger and some multi function elements as discussed.

@@PeterLindgren1 Now 3 months later the proof that its possible is out. Just tested the new charger that comes with the dji neo. It has 3 batteries that charge at 20watts all at the same time and it indeed 'pulls' 60watts. Given the size of the unit, the size of the sony vs dji batteries it clearly can be done... I really hope they make a new version of this tri-charger the idea is cool.

Very informative Daniel. It seems like they have tried to save money by using old electronics whilst relying on people not checking wattage like you have. Not having a card reader is just another example of money saving. As it stands it’s probably a 40 euro product. In my opinion.

I enjoyed your deep dive videos into the a7riii body and grips. I am thinking of opting for the smallrig 2122D which has a leather grip and a battery accessible door on the L plate. I don't need the side plate, I only need it for the extra pinky grip so I will remove the side. I also just got the zv-e1 last year and I just ordered this cage for it. The cage makes the camera extremely solid feeling as well as the rubber grip that came with it increasing the heft and overall positive experience of using the plastic body camera. it now feels like more of a durable and rugged camera compared to the cheap plastic toy feeling of the stock body.
