Dude! That game looks wild as hell, and I feel fits the lsd/hallucination driven weirdscape. Something I can take away from what I saw is player character is dealing with the decay of his mouth and mind eventually reaching our dental diety and being set free/dying

I'm not surprised you struggled so much if you didn't use the combos! The handspring or backflip kick alone can basically obliterate huge groups of enemies in no time flat with no damage taken in the process. Unless you're going for full Style points, there's not a lot of reason to use any other attacks actually, which one could argue is a different kind of problem but hey. Oh, and you also didn't mention the points system or the unlockables at all, (Including the playable Green Goblin which is just awesome) but I'm *guessing* you probably didn't enjoy the game enough to pursue any of that, which, is fair.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. It's not just that the Castle feels like its own world, the movement through that world has a special quality too. The devs even wrote about this feeling in the Japanese manual: "The Castle had a very strange shape, and Ico was often fascinated by its diverse scenery. The now ruined dance hall recalls the splendor of the Castle's bygone days, and the huge waterfall beneath the Castle symbolized the majesty of nature. Witnessing the many mysterious sights of the Castle, Ico found himself taken with its existence, even as he wished to escape it." I hope games like this, or even replays of this classic, continue to bring you peace.
@pixelmushroom5 ай бұрын
@Mystic_Ode oh wow, they truly nailed that feeling as that was my exact feeling playing the game! Truly a masterful stroke of game design. Thanks for the insight pal!

You probably should've looked for a downloadable PC version. The graphics are significantly better than the PS1. Having said that, Doc Oc's device was used to generate the fog that blanketed the city. You can find it in the facility at the end of the game.
@LethalProtector80009 ай бұрын
The reason Peter's model changes in some of the cutscenes is because 2 of them are directly lifted from the console version. Specifically the accident that creates Doc Ock, and the ending scenes are from the PS2/Xbox/GC version. The rest, were created specifically for the PSP game.

The way James jumps like a lifeline to the claim that Mary had told him she wanted to die implies to me that it was a real memory James obsessed over in the back of his mind as she withered away. What started as just another expression of pain from Mary became an intrusive thought in James, growing hateful, and twisted, just like Silent Hill, in a comparable manner to how we see his relationships with Eddy and Angela develop. Then he finally acted on his fantasy when she was brought home for hospice and he had to face her 24/7, and he could convince himself that none would be the wiser and that he was doing her good. Based on that, now I’m musing how Maria’s “born from a wish,” nature could refer to James and Mary’s wishes both, for her to live and to die, whichever might turn out better for themselves in the long run. I usually regret that the smothering audio wasn’t included simply because it’s heart-wrenching, decisive, and provocative horror, but I do like this interpretation being open due to its exclusion, since we’re not given Mary’s final position on the matter. Personally I’d expect that she wouldn’t begrudge the dying, but rather how insulting it is for your last moments to be a sudden shock of malice from your spouse who has timidly stood (mostly) by you for three years, and the times before her sickness.

Question: how do you manage to make the 4:3 image scale to the 16:9 screen for the background? Do you just layer the same clip on top of each other and stretch and blur the bottom one? Or is there a neater, more elegant solution?
@pixelmushroom10 ай бұрын
Depends on what video editor you're using. I'm using filmora wondershare 13. What I do with 4:3 image is crop out the black bars. Then within the video options under basic and selecting background where it will auto fill the black space with the sides of your current video and a few customization options. Adobe probably has a similar way of doing it but as you said, you could layer the images, blur the bottom and stretch it out. Hope this helps!

Ive never played any of the silent hill games... should i wait to play silent hill 2 remake?
@pixelmushroom11 ай бұрын
Hmmmmmmm, that's a hard question to fully answer without the game itself being out. But I will say, the original silent hill on PC is free to try as it's abandonwear and with the fan made enhanced edition, you get a pretty good looking game for its age. If you don't like it, just stop playing and wait for the remake as I know the remake is having combat redone, no tank controls and an over the shoulder camera similar to the resident evil 2 remake. Usually the hard entry point today for silent hill 1 and 2 is the combat, camera and tank controls. Since I'm a weirdo who loves these type of games as they are, I will probably always hold the original silent hill 2 above the other. Hope my response was helpful!

@pixelmushroom yes that helps thank you for your response! I may give it a try!
