Just get some brake cleaner, clean everything and start the car. Sit and watch until you see where its coming from then you can proceed on what needs to be fixed. Could be a micro crack in the oil pan from someone over tightening the drain plug.

It could be a small leak from the Vtech solenoid . Or the timing chain tensioner cover. These are very common leaks on these cars.

Have almost the same thing here except it's coming from drain bolt. Some douche overtighting bolt when I bought the car. Doing a replacing oil pan soon, but I can probably tell you that Honda bond sealed around the oil pan gets worn out just keep that in mind.
@westvalley411
@westvalley411 14 күн бұрын
Thank you and good that you diagnosed the cause of the leak. Have you considered a helicoil for the drain bolt. The drain hole must be drilled out oversize, then a special tap included with the heli coil kit is used to make new threads in the pan. After the threads are tapped, the helicoil can be installed. At that point a new drain plug can be used. This could be lower cost if your pan gasket is good. My problem has been ongoing ever since the car was brand new, Doesn't matter if I use a new crush washer or not.. Good luck.

@@westvalley411 hey thanks for the reply. I might consider a helicoil, but the oil pan has some o rings to be replaced anyways. I hope you solve your problem. In my older civic it had a leakage just like yours turns out to be oil pump seal coming from the side. From my experience a main seal leaking would leak often, but I would check near the pullys.

If tightening screws and turning on and off a few times doesnt work, try adjusting the solenoid. If fails to fix, then you may have a damaged valve. It's cold weather now and might get better and seal in warm/hot weather. Sorry about that.

@osmanfarooqui846 I hear you. Toilets are designed so that items that get past the trap will have no problems in the ABS pipe drain. thanks for the video. Do you have any more comments on why not going with tankless? Also, in my experience, testing the pressure relief valve, sometimes they can drip for a day or 2 after you toggle it. It probably isn't a leak, but just a very small drip for a day or 2. Sounds like you're already replacing the Anode rod every few years, or checking it. Regarding Tankless, Do you have any sections of have 3/4 or 1 inch gas piping from the Gas meter to house? I don't understand how these tankless heaters, gas supply tables, factor in Gas trunk pipe length. Do you recall what your gas piping cubic ft/hour calculation was for 40ft from meter to house? I'm having trouble understanding how length of gas pipe lessens the cubic ft/hour calculation. I have about 80ft from meter to house of 1inch. then 20 ft of 3/4 to inside of house. a Rheem table tells me 167 cubic ft/hour for the 80ft section and 188 cubic ft/hour for the 20ft section. I need 240 cubic ft/hour for my 3 gas appliances. So based on this, do I add 188+167, or can I only install appliances that operate under 167 cubic ft/hour? If I use your 40ft for the table, it says the cubic ft/hour 62, for 1/2 gas pipe. 62 cubic ft/hour probably cannot support anything but a gas wall heater. ? thanks in advance.

You've done some good research, and I remember my analysis paralysis. Best advise I read was to replace my 1/2 inch with 3/4 and let it rip. It's probably rare that every shower and appliance will be on at same time, so youll be okay, especially if you start with one inch and branch to 3/4 after furnace. I changed my mind in 2020 partly due to pandemic, we all showered at different times cause all of us at home. Then, California regs moving to all electric appliances, builders stop using gas water heaters. Also, annual maintenance seemed like one more thing to do. Good luck with your project.
