Hi Nathan, do you mean the blue hat in my intro or the green one during the video? As a guide what I would do is have a zoom call with you to discuss the detail of what you want and also to go though your head measurements. If it’s the green hat in the video I have 100% rabbit fur felt in stock so could be made within 10 days. As I am pre opening my new brand we can discuss a deal. Message me your tel number and let’s have a chat. Are you UK based? Thanks Paul

Hi, thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I do have a hat sewing machine from the 1860's which works ok however, I am looking for a more modern industrial machine for the sweatband and brim trim. I love these videos on less known classic accessories, such as clothes brushes, shoe horns, hat brushes, etc. My eyes went wise at 30 pounds but with three hats that is like 10 pounds a hat. Both my dress hats (one from Christys' of London) cost me no more than $25 or about 13 pounds each, so it can be hard to pay $25 for a single hat box. What I need to look at is that nice hats are not easy to get around here, so the longer I can make them last, the more value is in them.
@Passion4Hats-ev9muАй бұрын
Hi Thanks for your message. It's always a dilema for me as to how best store my hats as i have 60 plus in my collection and now the new ones I am making. I have found the blue box in the video and am looking to have it made locally to me and to sell at a far affordable price. You did well with the Christy's hat as here in the UK secondhand hats still command good prices and a trilby in good shape would be upwards of £40. Hats seem to be enjoying a resurgence and now with wider use of the internet and better courier services I think over the next few years it will become easier to find what you want. I am starting to make more of the retro look styles and look forward to see what interest I manage to create. Keep watching as I have more videos on the way. Regards Paul

Hi yes I re block with sweatband on unless it really needs to be taken off ie it’s damaged or worn and yes I use a smaller block than the original. We call it silver belly due to it being the belly fur from the beaver which is that natural tone of the felt. Resistol makes some amazingly tough hats for work. I highly suggest them. You can spend upwards of 3k on one if your pockets are deep enough

I have three, two of which are vintage. One of the vintage OR’s is “ranch worn” meaning it is well worn with a patina of sweat and grime. It’s actually very cool and a coveted look as it is often a look seen in westerns. I’ve always called the OR a LBJ hat because he was often seen in one. There is a photograph of Winston Churchill wearing an OR while painting. Enjoyed your video.
