Excellent review, yes creamy, spicy, and moderate peat for me; it’s hard to find in Canada; porter charlotte is better if you can find it.

This was my introduction to single malts around 10 years ago. I still go back to this one and have tried some other expressions I cannot remember the names of. Haven't tasted one I didn't like but the Legacy/Dualchas and 18 year are my two favorites so far. Your flavor notes are similar to mine and I really dig the breakdown you did. Subscribed...😁

I do the same thing about not putting open bottles on my shelf. I have a bar cabinet where I keep the open bottles so it’s easy to access for pouring, and then unopened stuff is on the shelf

Nice one. Agree wholeheartedly with your assessment, although I prefer the new release. More precise with more toffee vanilla. Delish. Love the orangey finish.

A good tip: put whisky which is in a bottle with over 50% air into a smaller bottle. Don't allow the air in the larger bottle to affect the whisky.

Good review Ben. I've just received this Aberlour 12 as a birthday gift from my step-son; albeit that my whisky journey is much further down the line of integrity malts. It is nevertheless a generous gift and on first neck pour have found it quite pleasant and certainly sherry forward. This could be much more if they'd upped the strength and avoided both chill-filtration and colour (after all, there should be sufficient natural colour available from the sherry cask). I don't for one moment think this will take water, it's too thin for that. However, there's compensation by virtue of those sherried, raisin and chocolate notes which will make this an enjoyable drammer.

Bro add water before tasting to drop alchohol to 35 because 35 +alchohol is to strong and freezing your sense.

I’m trying to decide if this is a must try for me. I like Port Charlotte with a touch of water and love Classic Laddie, neat (once the bottle has been opened for a month), the barley sounds a little flavorless to me, am I wrong? My gotos are anything Laphroaig, anything Ardbeg and Bunnahabhain 12. I appreciate your review.

Tried this at a friends house. It was the worst scotch I’ve ever had; thin and awful- red label is better than this stuff. Might actually be tied with aberfeldy 12 for the worst.

Well done. Again, you produced a straight forward critique of a famous Islay distillery. I am trying to get my hands on some Islay peat or used up mash to put on display in my bar. If you have any information on how I can obtain Islay peat or mash used for feed after the fermentation process that would be appreciated. More importantly, you have a simple but not simplistic way of producing your videos. Maybe one day you will have your own small crew and be able to interact with the distilleries staff while filming. Good luck and much success.

Another wonderful video. I am becoming a connoisseur of Islay whisky as I have tasted almost every product from Islay since completing the construction of my bar. Ardbeg Uigeadail is my favorite followed by Ardbeg 10, Kilchoman Sanaig and Lagavulin 16 and 11. The distinctive peat of Islay is the attraction. I am considering a visit to Islay in the near future with a few individuals that I have introduced the finer spirits of Islay to. Your video of Lagavulin is one of my favorites. I hope you have many, many more trips to Scotland and beyond. Good luck and good fortune.

Hello😊 Nice to meet you. Congrats on the video👍🏻 You make awesome content. One question: are you sure the Ardbeg Supernova 2019 is bottled at cask strenght? The label specifically remarks it? 53,5% ABV is high for today’s standards but not necesarily cask strenght. I have a Supernova SN2010 bottled at 60,1% ABV and the label doesnt show cask strenght. The Corryvreckan is bottled at 57,1% and its supposedly to be cask strenght, but the label says nothing about it. Curious. Just wanted to know if you know it for sure. Best regards!

This is one of my favorite videos for Lagavulin. I have watched it many times with a dram of Lagavulin 11 or 16 in my hand. Congratulations on your expanding family and for keeping whiskey opinions real and honest. You take care and keep safe and happy.

Now that time has passed, has your opinion changed? Has it improved over time? I just bought it. It was either this or a Glen Garioch 12 that has been highly recommended to me. I don't know if I regret it.

People can be very peculiar.....they go crazy for Springbank, meaning it's almost unobtainable, and yet this can be found fairly easily, despite being produced in much lower quantities, even though it's a Springbank!

Jura can be marvellous. It just needs age. It's not a whisky that shines under 15 years.
