Had a 1976 Vega in the mid eighties. It was my winter car l bought for three hundred bucks.Needed an engine and some minor work .After fixing it up and a real good cleaning, the guy l bought it from said,l'll give you back what you paid for it. No fat chance of that happening. Had that car for almost 4 years. Served me well.

Put a black interior and an automatic transmission in that and I had the exact same car. I sold mine in 1982, at the time it had 45,000 miles on it and I was in the process of putting it's 4th engine in it. It was a really fun car though.

Thank you for the nice video. I have a leaky gasket on my 1991 928 S4. The dealer wants 1800$ to do the job. Looks pretty straight forward. Does the torque converter refill itself during the transmission refill? Also, when you shifted into gear momentarily did you leave the engine in idle? Lastly, did you leave the engine running the entire time during refilling? Thanks again.

I believe the 91 is the same transmission as mine, with some upgrades. It’s the S Class Mercedes trans ant it is very good! As you can see from the video, it’s a very simple maintenance procedure. Remember to drain the torque converter. The plug is hard to see. Fill it non-running, then top it off while running. The torque converter will fill. Before I changed the fluids and filter on the transmission, it did seem bit of a lag to engage, but it. Was fine after. Unless your car was beat on, I am sure the transmission just needs serviced. Good luck! See you when I get back.

I put autocross springs from Van Steel on the front and just put longer bolts on the back that I also got from Van Steel. It was pretty cheap and easy! I think paid about $300 for the springs and bolts and the shipping was free.

That is a beautiful Vega! I had a 1974 GT like that as my first car, except ours was Starburst Bronze metallic. I still run the rebuilt engine from it in my '72 convertible Vega today! Can't beat that later-style HEI Distributor. Much more powerful and reliable than the original points and condenser type. Just imagine if they had continued making Vegas how advanced they would be today! The Cosworth was really ahead of its time!

Hi Tony, I have a 69 with a 400 also and my engine has a fluter in it and one mechanic told me I needed a exhaust gasket which didn't work, could it be the manifold that is leaking and causing it? Hope you can help, thank you. Good job on the work your doing on your GTO, and I like that you keep it clean.
@tonybosworth5382

Dale, I had a similar problem on the passenger side. Changed the gasket and still did it. I ended up getting a better quality gasket and it seems to be okay now. The exhaust manifolds on Pontiac suck! Mine leaked on the center part. They need another bolt to hold them from the factory. Good luck. Let me know if that fixes yours.

Thanks for this, looks great. Couple questions about the fuel pump install, please: 1.) What kind of grease is good on that FP arm? 2.) Regarding the sealer davidpatrick mentioned, do you put gasket sealer between the block and gasket, between the FP and gasket, or both? 3.) What's a good torque value for the bolts securing this FP to the block?
@tonybosworth5382
@tonybosworth5382 Жыл бұрын
Dan, I put a finger full of wheel bearing grease on it to get through the first starts just to protect it a bit. I didn’t use any gasket sealer on it. The colored gaskets have some sort of sealer impregnated on them, so I don’t use anything.

So many have commented, with many stating on what they would do to this car. But - I myself have done everything possible to keep it all original. Please read my other replies that have made about this vehicle. The car has been surely great to me. Again - thank you! Dave

Wow, awesome video! Always loved the R8 and believ it's the best supercar. Could be biased haha. I also hear stuff about the R tronic being the least reliable, but after watching videos, and reading in the R8talk forum. I see what it actually is and honestly, haven't not learned manual. I would prefer the R Tronic over the S tronic, strictly for more engagement and I love the body style and looks of the 2008-2012 R8 V8 and V10. I think it's an awesome car and I can't wait to own those generations one day.
