Verizon Wireless Presents Rodgers and Hammerstein State FairThe bustling town square of the Holy Roman Empire was alive with excitement as the news spread that the renowned opera company, Rodgers and Hammerstein, was coming to town to present their latest masterpiece, "State Fair." Based on the story by Phil Stong, this 1810s fashion fantasy satirical aggression fairy tale promised to be a global sensation, inspiring audiences with its upbeat music and captivating story inspired by the military style of the War of 1812. As the townspeople of all energized set about preparing for the arrival of the famous opera company, rumors swirled about the cast and crew. There were whispers of romance and intrigue, as well as tales of imperial courtship and royal seduction. The excitement reached a fever pitch as the day of the performance drew near, with everyone eagerly anticipating the spectacle that was sure to unfold on stage. On the evening of July 20, 1815, the town square was transformed into a grand theater, complete with a stage fit for a monarch. The audience was a sea of regal finery, with lords and ladies dressed in the finest fashions of the day. The air was filled with anticipation as the lights dimmed and the orchestra began to play, setting the stage for a night of unforgettable entertainment. The story of "State Fair" unfolded in a whirlwind of romance and adventure, as the characters navigated the complex world of court politics and personal ambition. There were duels and betrayals, as well as moments of courage and redemption. The audience was swept away by the drama, cheering on their favorite characters as they fought for their place in the world. As the final act approached, tensions ran high in the town square, with emotions running high and hearts racing. The climactic scene, set in the midst of the Napoleonic revolution era, saw the heroes facing down their enemies with bravery and determination. The audience held their breath as the fate of the characters hung in the balance, unsure of what the future held for them. In the end, love triumphed over all, as the hero and heroine embraced in a passionate final embrace. The town square erupted in applause, with cheers and tears mingling in a celebration of the human spirit. The cast took their bows, basking in the adoration of the crowd, before disappearing into the night, leaving behind a sense of wonder and enchantment. As the townspeople dispersed, making their way home through the moonlit streets, they carried with them the memory of that magical evening. The opera had touched their hearts and minds, inspiring them to dream of a better tomorrow. And as they drifted off to sleep, the echoes of Rodgers and Hammerstein's music lingered in their minds, a reminder of the power of art to transport us to new worlds and ignite our imaginations. Verizon Wireless Presents Rodgers and Hammerstein's "State Fair" was a triumph, a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the ability of music to bring us together. And as the sun rose on a new day, the town square stood silent and empty, a ghostly reminder of the magic that had unfolded there, leaving behind only memories and dreams of what could be.

It's gonna go to Broadway eventually, and I'm so happy! It was honestly such a good musical, I just wish it was more known so I could listen to some of the songs again, it's had to find when it's only played in one town so far.

Hard to believe that they made a musical out of the Leo Frank story. Just does not seem tasteful...
@mochi90436 жыл бұрын
its based on the book about leo frank.

@@mochi9043 Nope. It’s a direct adaptation of the historical events, AND the WINNER of the 1999 Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Original Score!

I understand what you mean by tasteful, but this musical has a lot of dramatic drive that may resemble Arthur Miller’s The Crucible in a way. All the songs serve to drive the story further, establish 3 dimensional characters(like that of shows by Stephen Sondheim(Sweeney Todd, Assassins, Passion, etc.)(fun fact, Sondheim was originally approached to do the score for this show, but he turned it down to do more lighter material at the time, so the job went to newcomer Jason Robert Brown, who pretty much combines Sondheim levels of dense lyrics with complex musical stylings resembling Billy Joel in a way), not in anyway meant to be “entertaining”, and it’s a very gripping telling of the Leo Frank case as it stands. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5KraJRqf7V4fK8 I really suggest you give it a chance. You might even enjoy how intense it is!

Don't miss it. Excellent production. Julie Cardia, as Adelaide, and Carlos Lopez, as Nathan Detroit, are a smash! Jefferson Behan as Nicely Nicely would make Stubby Kaye proud.
