Not the greatest guide. Infra is not efficient in every state, your focus tree and research order can be optimized, train the navy, train the air, and one division train the army! Don't spam infrastructure everywhere, it's not efficient in low build slot states without resources. You particularly want the oil states first so you can train all of navy + air force from the start. TX, CA, OK, LA then other high build slot states. On focus tree order, you don't need the 5th research slot so early. New Deal, WPA, AAA, NA, War Dept, STA, wait 20 days, FLSA. If you don't have congress support for STA, then you can do the research slots but it's important to get STA before Japan declares war so you get the full 10% war support increase. If you do STA after Japan, you need to unassign your pride of the fleet to reduce WS or you won't get the full bonus. On research, why would you ever bother to research support weapons 1? It does absolutely nothing until you're actually fighting a war. Researching guns isn't optimal but at least it gives you something new to produce while at peace. All the 5% buffs to your fighting troops do no matter until you join the war. Until then you want industry + electronics tech and things to produce. Speaking of things to produce, air tech >>>> infantry tech. If you really must rush land weapons, AT is more important so you can produce tanks/TDs early on. Going ahead of time on guns when you could tech juggle industry or get planes is nonsensical. Train the navy. Enough said, you have the fuel, train the fucking navy. Make sure to train the carrier planes as well once the navy has left port on its training missions. Train the air force. You can set them to only train until regular to avoid attrition on your plane stockpile but again, you have the fuel, train the fucking planes. Delete all but 1 National Guard division in the army. Train it non-stop until 39 or 40. This will get you far more XP than training all your divisions and it will cost far fewer guns. Since the US has to wait so long to join the war, it is worthwhile to create a 50w training template. Make sure to duplicate at key points (i.e. keep a 28W pure infantry if you plan to make 14-4s later on, 30W pure inf is also nice, and 40w pure inf for tank template converts) but you want to have a single division with 25000 dudes in it. You leave a ton of XP on the table by not one div training (or training the army at all)! Don't build civs. 1 civ for a congress support mission, sure. But you start with a ton of civs and no mils, civs do not win wars. Build mils, build equipment, win war. One of your first constructions should always be a mil in North Carolina since that congress building mission always appears first. Build it to 99%, shunt it to the bottom of the queue, and finish the mil as soon as the mission pops up. This will allow new congress events to appear more quickly and you'll get free congress support. But overall, please don't build civs. Infra -> mils or even just pure mils is better.

I just beat the game as Poland last night, had a completely different strategy though. Germany was actually one of the last European countries for me to go after. I realized pretty quickly the game considers Denmark/Sweden to be a land border, so Poland is considered not to have sea access to the Atlantic Ocean and therefore can't colonize West Africa (which was my original plan). Figured the first thing I needed to do was resolve that, so went south. Took out Slovakia, then Hungary, and the plan was Serbia but Croatia got involved defending Hungary and was weakened so took them out instead, to breach the Mediterranean. Took Belarus, then gradually most of the Balkans (kept Greece and Romania on board for a while as both had extremely high ally scores with us). Took Libya, started working on North Africa, then parts of the Arabian Peninsula, which skyrocketed my GDP and could steamroll from there. Us, USA, China, Japan, Indonesia, and Australia were in kind of a 6-way stalemate at the end (two-tiered stalemate, us/USA/China all about equal, and Japan/Indonesia/Australia all about equal) but when I went to work on the smaller nations, it gave USA and China no one to attack but each other, and they eventually whittled each other down enough army-wise that I could put the finishing touches on by just going after USA (I already owned Canada so it was an easier land border to go through than going after China). In the end, only 4 countries were left - us in 1st, China still at about 55% completion, USA still at about 35% completion, and Indonesia as the one smaller nation I hadn't yet gone after when I noticed USA/China were low enough.
