Learned to play it on my tenor way back in highschool. Always got requests. Later when Benny Hill showed up on PBS with Monty Python it became synonymous with whacky chases.😂🤣

Doc always was and is, a class act!!! He's going to be 97 WOW!!!! I could only dream of what it would be like to play the trumpet like him! My college roommate and I would turn on the tonight show just to watch all of his shenanigans and his great band. We were fortunate to get to see him live! Happy birthday to one of the greatest trumpeters ever! At 72, I'll keep practicing and maybe I'll be worthy to carry his trumpet case. God Bless Him!!!!

Carson should not have interfered with the stop watch and all - a boorish move.

Hey Dave! Thanks for the video I’m in the market for a new horn, definitely considering an Adams,. Have you heard of Geneva? Was curious if you’re gonna try one one of these days, would love to hear your opinion.

I know of Geneva but have never been in the same room as one of them. They may send me one later this summer for a test and I will post results.

Typical of American Euphoniums with out compensation the intonation is all over the place.. I wonder if anyone made a Double Bell Euphonium that was also a fully compensating horn.

Not in "the old day" as far as I know, but Wessex makes one now.

Unfortunately, most of the audience don't realize what they just experienced unless your a trumpet player. Also, let's not forget Arturo Sandoval and The great Mexican Rafael Mendez.

Incredible trumpet professional - to play so extreme at those ultra high notes with such power, passion & control - outstanding - wow! A true musical artist surrounded by top performers too. A classy version of a well known & respected Spanish melody. Doc you are among the greatest trumpet performers ever! Gracias....

Johnny's warm relationship, and admiration for Doc was touching. And, btw, that Tonight Show Jazz Orchestra, was absolutely devastating. Absolute heavy hitters, top to bottom. I always wished though, that Doc would have played in the staff more. He had absurd range, but it seemed like that's pretty much all he did sometimes, and there was a lot more to his skill than that.

Bob Havens was Al Hirt's trombone player for a number of years beginning in the in the mid-50s at Dan's Pier 600 in the New Orleans French Quarter. His wife, Jo, worked there with him as a cocktail waitress. I was a student at Tulane and went there often.
