You are an absolute life saver. I tried silk painting for my last cosplay and struggled so much with my gutta. Thank you so much for this in-depth tutorial 🙏

I'm so glad it was helpful 🥰 if you have any more questions in regards to gutta please feel free to ask, I'm always happy to help !
@CakeCrumb11 күн бұрын
Do you know if all gutta brands should be mixed with water? Mine refused to come out of the squeeze bottle even though I had one with a much wider nozzle (the only one I had on hand at that time) and then kind of separated the lines every few centimeters 😩 The instructions didn't mention thinning it down so I didn't even consider that idea! It's a gutta that you wash out with water too, unfortunately the only brand available here at all. Thank you for the help 💝
@dreamy_december11 күн бұрын
@@CakeCrumb If it's a water based gutta, which it sounds like it is, you should be able to thin it with water! I'd recommend starting light and adding more until you get a nice smooth consistency. When it's too thick, it will come out in clumps instead of a continuous line. Don't worry if it seems like the water isn't mixing in, from my experience it might take a few minutes of consistent stirring but as long as it is a water based gutta, it will definitely mix in eventually!

If my fabric is pink already, can I dye an orange gradient onto the bottom as in will it be visible or do I have to buy a white fabric and dye it pink and orange gradient? Thank you :)
@dreamy_december24 күн бұрын
It really depends on a couple of factors! Specifically the shades of pink and orange, your fabric and your dye. If you're trying to dye a very vibrant, pure pink to pure orange, it will work best on white fabric. If your pink fabric is a rather light pink, you might be able to get away with an orange gradient if you're using an intense, vibrant or dark orange. This is also dependent on using the best dye for the fabric type. If you can provide a few more specifics, I can help provide better direction!

@dreamy_decemberАй бұрын
Thank you! This is self patterned, but as for hanfu patterns I have a few book recommendations. First is Hanfu Pattern Making by TT Duong, which is available in English. The second is the Textbook for Making Han Chinese Clothing by Gu Xiaosi and Xu Handa.

The boddice is absolutely stunning. And the fit is perfect. Well done. _Suggestion for using the ham_ - I've seen sewists place their ham in a small casserole dish or basket to keep it in position while ironing. It makes a good third hand. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Beautiful, the colors and the fabric are like a whisper. I love this. With the acid dying, did you have to keep the water hot for the dye to work? Your gradients are beautiful, and I’d love to try a gradient skirt with chiffon

So airy and beautiful! One thing I saw my grandmother-- who was a seamstress-- do was put tissue paper under delicate fabrics to prevent the machine from pulling them. You tear the tissue paper out at the end. Keep up the good work! :)
@dreamy_december4 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! The tissue paper method is a great tip 😊 I don't usually use it on chiffon French seams because it can become a bit fussy to get out of the seams, but I use it quite a bit on other seam types!
