People should stop calling it a failed project as though it's abandoned. There's a plan to make Forest City as a special financial zone. The Malaysian government is giving incentives like zero tax rate for family offices, industrial building allowance and incentives for relocation to attract high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors.

The brand new gazillion dollar tunnel doesn't show up in a useful location downtown, you need to spend the same amount again digging up central Manhattan else it's just a great way to escape the zombies when the time comes. Meanwhile, Amtrak still doesn't have ANYTHING new running.

Opposition to Musk's Vegas Loop misses the point entirely: NYC subway expansion costs $4 billion per mile. The entire 2.2 mile Vegas Loop cost $48.7 million to build. For every $1 spent per mile on the Vegas Loop, about $181 was spent per mile on the NYC subway expansion. If a NYC-style subway was built in Vegas, $50 million would fund 66 feet. Now, a subway and the Loop are entirely different things -- and that's the point. The Loop is a quick, cheap experiment to justify further investment in public transportation. It doesn't need to handle the load of an entire city. Btw, NYC's Second Avenue subway took 97 years from concept to the opening of the first phase. It cost $4.45 billion for 1.8 miles. It's unlikely the entire line will ever be finished due to exploding costs. Meanwhile, the Loop has already been approved for a 65 mile expansion.

How many people does the New York subway carry per hour and how many people do these Teslas carry? Maintenance: Batteries? Tires? A driver for 3 people, how many people does a driver carry on the subway?
If built like the tunnels under the mess center, this thing is a f*****g death trap. No proper emergency ventilation, no sprinklers, too small to fit a proper tow-truck or fireengine, no emergency exits.
@kevinbailey88274 ай бұрын
They worked all that out with the Clark County Fire Department, who helped them develop their emergency equipment and procedures. For example, instead of using a "proper" tow truck, they have tow vehicles that fit in the tunnels.

The drivers are treated like shit by the Boring company workers who are grungy at best,and than belittled by there management using intimidation and degrading tactics because they are afraid of there (I have a degree I’m a god )job being questioned. They post ghost jobs like crazy and expect the drivers to be able as a part time(less than 60 hrs a month) to wait hrs between shifts of 3 or 4 hrs. The drivers sit in the shop with no A/c while management sits in cold offices. The driver are so treated badly. Communal headsets each driver shares as well as un safe environment around shop. Many drivers depend on this wage and enjoy this employment but at every chance they are treated so disrespectfully.

there are literally fire exits. firefighters enter the tunnels like nyc subways. they don't even bring in firetrucks in nyc subways. people exit through fire exits. you're asking ridiculous questions that can easily be found from googling.
@TalesOfWar4 ай бұрын
@@runlit120 The New York Subway has larger tunnels that firefighters can actually get through and has exits more regularly. This thing has such a small diameter that it's technically under the same regulations as a sewer pipe so he gets around the extra regulations of an actual transit tunnel. Even the 130 year old deep level Waterloo and City line has better emergency access than this thing does.

sf subway took 40 years to build 1.7 miles and $1.9 billion. expensive and slow.

@@runlit120 in those years maybe but in my city, Santiago Chile, a subway line of 15 miles toke 2 years and cost $2 billion, it looks like a lot but we are building 4 of them because we can and is public money well invested, also the the subway copany is the only one making money in the public transportation industry and it only cost $80 cent
@runlit1205 ай бұрын
@@diegoxd321 False equivalency. Just because one country can do it doesn't mean all other countries should be doing it at the same price. Different regulations, safety measures. Also Santiago Chile has 460 people/km while SF has 6,735 people/km. Different population density. Shutting down a road for subway entrance station construction. Same goes for Vegas. Boring company tunnel was able to do it for cheap for given density/regulations. It's also safer than a subway.

for the trainbrains and transit bros: based on FTA government data, teslas are literally more energy efficient than subways using average ridership data. and it costs 30x-100x less than a subway to build. plenty of data out there but you don't want to look at it because you are in denial.
