No it is not based off hit dmg anymore you can go read the manifesto if you want

since the 3.0 update, poison is NOT based on hit damage, it skills completely differently now, mostly by stacking more poisons per second, and inc DoT and poison/chaos damage through items and tree and new awesome support gems.

Most of what been said is wrong and Greedy is right. What others said is not right, but not wrong in essence. Poison damage is not random, not scaled by level or dexterity. It`s damage is from the damage you do with chaos/physical direct damage. Hit's do affect the 'poison' damage in a way that does not matter as much as before. Poison dmg based of hit dmg ? Still True Infinite stacks of poison ? Now True The base damage per second dealt by a given application of poison equals 20% of the combined physical and chaos damage of the base damage dealt which applied that particular instance of poison ? TRUE Result ? A battle between damage per attack and number of stack applied.(something the Quill Rain demonstrate in a lovely way) Slow attacks have higher poison damage per stack. But not as many stacks Faster attack get more stacks with less poison damage per stacks. In the end, on the 2 build it somewhat average out. There is 2 threshold. If you use vile toxin a) And cannot get the 9 stack of poison you lose out on efficiency. b) If you put 20 stacks, you over capped vile toxin basically lose on flat dmg potential meaning you dont get get as much in since everything like attack speed get diminishing effectivness.* *Player 1 has 0 increased attack speed. He equip an item +50%. He gained 50% more attack speed. Player 2 has 300% attack speed. He equip an item with 100% attack speed. HE now has 400%, but he actually gained 25% more attack speed then he had. (100 of the 400 total is 1/4 or 25% increase.) The same happen with damage.. If you already have +600% The increase will be minimal on 100% (1/7 increased) Compared to another with 0% getting his first 50% Conclusion ? Being able to put 9-10 stacks using vile toxins become the most important part, then you scale damage to profit from it`s bonus. The important part of Vile Toxin: Supported Skills deal 5% more Damage with Hits for each Poison on the Enemy, up to 9 Reduced damage pretty much trash the build up of poison damage since the poison scale with hit damage and vile toxin scale with poison stacks. A sad thing because Quill rain seem like the best theme weapon for poisoning. P.S. I love the video! Nice build btw. I know you dont barrage anymore but man... It is a BARRAGE! lol
