Great quality nuc. Will order a couple before autumn sets in. Would also be great if there were a fondant plug for each side of the split mating nuc set-up. Would then give the opportunity to over-winter 3 frame nucs.
@BSHoneyBees Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, glad to hear you will be looking to purchase some of our Nucs. We considered this in the design stage but we feel 3 frame Nucs are far less viable than one 6 frame Nuc to Overwinter. The silicone plugs are also a costly component which would also increase the overall retail price in a highly competitive market.

Hi, does the inside of the feeder need painting please?
@BSHoneyBees Жыл бұрын
It's entirely up to you, we haven't painted any of the ones we use. If you do opt to paint you can use exterior grade gloss or masonry paint but make sure it's either textured or add sand so the bees can grip to the sides.

Unlikely, just robbing bees. Swarms prefer old used wax or use lemongrass oil.

I would of used that Nuc Roof as a Landing Board / Walk in Board, to that bigger Hive. Then knocked those Bees onto it, rather than the Grass. That way, if the Queen was amongst those remaining Bees, you know she would walk in Safely ! Just saying. 🙄

We've had instances when using these for queen rearing where one queen has crossed over the divide when the roof was removed, and killed the other queen: could do with a cover or two ? Great kit though.

Hello BS Honey Bees, Good morning. I like to know how long the bee queen live ? How do you identify the queen bee eggs? In stingless bee hives the queen bee eggs is alot larger then their ordinary eggs. I do keep bees, I got more then 20 stingless bees hives back in my country....

How far would bees travel for pollen? I’m based in Yorkshire but right in a town centre. With a large park nearby, would that be adequate for a colony?

Received mine today as a Standard National as you dont do a Commercial one, if you did a commercial Nuc with slots to make it smaller to allow it to be used as a National Nuc would be very handy for me so i could change any time between a Commercial or a National Nuc. i guess once someone invents one like that i will be very interested for now i will just keep the one i have bought from you and not buy any others.

Why do you take out the attendants?
@jwchitwood3 жыл бұрын
Some people feel it helps with acceptance to only have the queen in the cage. Also the candy tube can become blocked by dead attendants in the cage and interfere with releasing the queen.

I was really interested to watch this because I want to learn bee-keeping, but your speech is so poor (inarticulate) that I can hardly hear what you are saying. You mumble your words, don't pronounce them properly at all, slur one word into another and swallow some syllables completely. I am so gutted. I wanted to understand more about what you are saying and maybe buy your product, but as I can't get the info I need from this, I am going to have to buy from somewhere else. Food for thought?
@hypercriticalbrit5 жыл бұрын
TopFlightEnglish I don’t actually know if you’re trying to troll them or if you’re being serious. He speaks perfectly clearly in the video - at most you could say he has an accent and doesn’t speak ‘the queens English’ but he is perfectly audible and understandable. These are great little nucs - I purchased a couple of them (on top of the 2 standard nucs I already had and 5 hives) and I have to say they are vastly superior to standard nucs. Let me know if you end up taking up beekeeping and want any tips (always happy to help).

I love your product. Is it available in the US? I am new to beekeeping, but as a long time woodworker, I've been making my own equipment. It's very clear you put a lot of time and knowledge into the design and I can appreciate the costs involved in having it manufactured to specs. I didn't fully understand every aspect of your product and how to use it though, I'm sure it's due to my nascent beekeeping knowledge. I'm going to check out your other videos on here - keep up the good work mate.

Congratulation in truly inventive nuc. The only problem as I see is after the 2 queen cells given, On the next manipulation of the hive to see if queens have emerged mated etc. The bees bees and Queens will mix and the chances of losing the queens are very high. In all videos I have see all compartment are separate in multiple queen rearing units from one another with a separator. The separator will block the feeder. How do you advise the manipulator in this case.
@BSHoneyBees6 жыл бұрын
John Owen Hi John, thanks for your feedback. Our current suggestion is to use a manipulation cloth. On the initial design stage we did discuss and attempt to work a perspex crown board into the design but as an "out of the box" feature it would interfere too much with the workings of the top feeder / fondant plug. It would also increase the unit cost thus pricing us out of an already competitive market. We are looking to offer this as an additional extra and have allowed space for a 2mm perspex crown board but we need to consider what route to take as a full sheet will not allow the top feeder to work and collide with the centre divide. 2 smaller sheets cut short will allow for the divide and a gap to the side to allow usage of the top feeder but then will pose an issue with the usage of the fondant plug. Before proceeding to get a bulk quantity of these cut to size we need to see the demands of the market before pursuing. I hope you can understand. Daniel
