I'm sure other e-bikes do a better job as far as latency goes but all of them are going to have a certain amount of kick to them on pedal assist as it's the nature of its existence lol I am still searching for an ebike (frantically now because june 14th a 25% tax will hit all imported e-bikes coming to america) I found this one on sale for $599 and thinking about pulling the trigger, just so I at least have one before that tariff gets lifted. I think I would be throttle only in tight spaces/areas where people are around instead of wipe open ripping it down the road for all the reasons you listed. It was something I had thought about watching reviews, because almost everyone has the same reaction to a new bikes pedal assist and it's always OHHH WOW almost every single time. So get to know the pedal assist in an open area before ever really messing wtih it is my intention. The idea of the e-bike anyway is to whip around my little town that I live in, especially spring-fall because I'm surrounded by parks and they have concerts all summer and activities too. Just easier to get out on the bike and cruise around instead of driving 15 mph on 1 way streets lol also we have really bad parking because theres quite frankly no parking lol theres a parking deck in the center of the town that is free but walking from that to go see a concert and eat dinner is a pain, when I can just ride my bike up park it right at the restaurant lol

Thanks for you’re honest review of this bike I was thinking about getting a bike since I still only have my g1 and I moved to a bigger city my gf drives but I’m basically dependent on her if I want to go anywhere until I get my g2 and eventually full G another guy in one of these review videos also said the battery isn’t water proof so it shouldn’t be used in wet/rainy conditions. I want something reliable that can be compact for storage because we don’t have a lot of room now because there’s a baby on the way. 40km is a pretty reasonable distance for battery life the brake issue is certainly something to consider I wouldn’t want to purchase something like that and get it with broken parts I also want something reliable how long are the breaks going to last on this thing can it be fixed if something goes wrong how much is a new battery alone if it dies completely things like that. I don’t want to spend money on something like that and regret my purchase later down the road.

Wind Wheels look really Plasticy & Cheap looking, I’d stick to only using Cloud Wheels. I think its really good that you slow down completely when going through puddles of Water. I reckon when you go on any wet surface to go slow enough so you can either safely Step or Jump Off the board. Where I live it rains allot & I just want to go Skateboarding in the Rain but, I end up sliding all over the place & falling off so, now after allot of Pain from falling off I’ll NEVER Skateboard in the Rain anymore & wait until the Roads & Paths are completely Dry before I fulfil my Skateboarding fix of 3 Hours in the Morning & 3 Hours in the afternoon each Day. I recently fell on my Shoulder whilst Skateboarding on a rainy Day, I didn’t break anything but both my Shoulder & Arm are really sore. I’m going to practice falling off my Evolve Skateboard doing either a Judo Roll or a side Roll to keep the momentum going & eventually it’d become an Automatic action when I fall off my Skateboard in the future.

I'd definitely say clouds are higher quality and you're right on the plastic feel on the wind wheels - surprisingly they don't feel bad when they wear in. I've heard accounts of delamination on the wheels but it hasn't happened to me, I've actually had a few sets with different boards. Glad to hear you're learning as you go mate. Hey, man. Great video. I'm guessing these have belt motors on them? Do you think the hub version would have less mileage capacity in them? Also, does a stiffer board mean harder to turn and rougher rides? New to this. Shopping for my first board. Thanks, man.
@grizzlykiwi
@grizzlykiwi Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeah this is the belt version. The hub will actually get a bit more distance as the belts create more resistance, where's the hubs will roll like a normal skateboard. Stiff is in terms of the deck so the ride is a little harder but the board is more predictable, it's a good or bad thing depending on what you like. For cruising I like a little softer but for speed or off-road I feel safer on a stiff deck. I see this board is a great price at the moment. This would be a great first board. I'd recommend spending the extra on belts just for ride comfort, more torque and more wheel options. Lycaon has been quiet for quite a while so I think they're clearing boards before going out of business, so just be weary and buy via PayPal. Imo it's worth gamble at this price point, 100%. Let me know if you have any questions, always happy to chat boards.
@paoloplayspadel
@paoloplayspadel Жыл бұрын
@@grizzlykiwi hey, thanks for the reply man. Yeah, the board is looking really good right now for the price. But also yeah, it looks like the company is about to go under, sadly. I would like to stick with hub motor mainly because I read that maintenance is easier and it's easier to kick push compared to a belt motor. I've been looking at boards with the highest declared mileage but on a budget. Like, around $500. I really like the Possway T3 but I reached out to them and they haven't replied so it might be another company going under. Then backfire has the Zealot which is a belt drive which I'm not too fond of but Backfire has such a great reputation that it's hard to ignore. Plus, they just announced their new boards so hoping to older version would go lower in price. Then, there's swift which seems good, too. I also will be using it a lot in NYC so 105mm might be a minimum requirement to survive the poor Manhattan streets. lol
@grizzlykiwi
@grizzlykiwi Жыл бұрын
@@paoloplayspadel Honestly I've never had to do any maintenance on a belt motor other than remove the odd small rock from the belts. I've got belt, hub and direct drive and belt is the most versatile - especially if you're looking at putting 105s on. I started with a hub for the same reason but direct drives are the way to go if you're looking for something with zero maintenance as you still get the full choice of wheels for the most part. You can always change your gearing with belts too which can be handy for changing wheel sizes. Also keep in mind hub boards are still heavy and not practical to push very far, especially on anything but a mini. I'd give Possway a miss, the only people talking about them are getting given free boards to do so. Backfire tend to have a good reputation on Esk8 pages, a lot of people have had good experiences having them as first boards. You don't see many reviewers talking about backfire because they don't hand them out to reviewers. If you're willing to take a risk on customer service get the swift, pretty sure the battery is Sanyo so it's better than you'd get on the Zealot too. Plus it's a far bigger battery with a better configuration. Let me know what you decide, keen to hear what you end up with.
@paoloplayspadel
@paoloplayspadel Жыл бұрын
@@grizzlykiwi Thanks for the info, man. I do appreciate it. I'll think about getting belt drives more. my main goal is use this board for UberEats deliveries. Right now, I am walking to do deliveries so I'm looking for the next step up that works best for me. Ebikes aren't ideal for me because of logistics, escooters are kind of lame (no offense. sorry. lol), and EUCs are hella expensive. So that's my main worry about mileage. I plan on bringing a backup battery with me so that I can switch it in midday. Do you think that's viable for this board? Also, this board is a bit shorter, right? I'm six foot tall and 170lbs. Do you think it'll be an issue for me? I know lighter skaters can get more mileage.
@grizzlykiwi
@grizzlykiwi Жыл бұрын
@@paoloplayspadel Comfort wise you'll definitely want the belts if you're going on the top end of your range regularly. Hot swapping batteries isn't really a viable option at this price range, the Maxfind FF belt is probably the best board for that. However its range specs are completely overstated on their website and you're looking at 2x the price for the board, and then more for the extra battery. This is 100% the most range you'll get on a esk8 in the price range. Yeah the deck is slightly shorter than normal which you will probably find handy if you're picking it up often for deliveries. You'll probably appreciate the shorter deck if you're in the city too. I ride mini boards all the time and haven't had any issues and I'm about 180 pounds. Naturally weight does take a toll on the battery but you'll be fine. Take the plunge, you'll wish you did sooner haha.
