Hello. Greetings from Paris ! I own a defender 90 Td5 as a second car. Never been able to high rev it and up shift quickly like a Golf or a sport car. The gearbox doesn’t like it and blocks or grind the agressive up shift. Especially 1 to 2d, 2 to 3d. If I up shift slowly on low revs, everything is smooth. Gearbox oil is MTF94. How in the video the up shift is so quick on high rpm ? Many thx for your feedbacks. Merci ! Julien

the narrator demonstrates excellent diction. finishes his consonants ... :) BTW, the dash isn't wood, it's metal and painted to look like wood. and they've done a fine job it, haven't they?. it's a very lovely restoration. i've seen few, in any , that are better. bravo!

The problem here is these were sh-t when they were made, not sure how they are any better now. I know, I used one a Wyoming ranch back in '86 with a '85 Ford and it was sh-t then. Constantly broken down.

constantly steering
@southjerseyjim504919 күн бұрын
Yup. But can be fixed. Stock steering boxes were sloppy. Police boxes were tight. Can be rebuilt to give precise steering. Car needs more caster than came from factory - not a difficult fix. Lower control arm pivot shafts replaced with stronger units and polyurethane bushings plus beefed up strut rods. None of these fixes are terribly expensive, and they will completely transform the steering.

@southjerseyjim504919 күн бұрын
Typical of old Chargers. I detailed all the fixes that can be done in a response to another post. There’s about 6 things that can be done that will DRAMATICALLY improve handling. Bone stock, it was a crap shoot whether you’d get a good one off the assembly line. Usually you wouldn’t. The ‘70 R/T I currently own is 100 times better than the other three I owned.
