So, this locomotive was definitely faster than Mallard?

Have you had any issues with the drive rods breaking? Had mine for a few months. One broke. Bachman fixed and maiden voyage after being repaired other side broke in the same spot.

Another engineer that does not know how to make the whistle sound. At the end of each blowing of the whistle, he has to put the whip sound on the end. Let the pretty whistle sound its beautiful and die at the end.
I've always wanted a zw transformer for my layout but its so expensive

Wait, is this genuine audio? If it is, holy crap! If not, then very well done! I always thought these locomotives had the same whistle that the pacifics had, but no, this is very unique. Sounds like a mix between a Hancock and a Ps4's long bell 3 chime. I love it.
@BalticFilms1448 ай бұрын
This was all dubbed, but I did some further research into the F7s that wasn't available before, the mechanical drawings. My friend bought them off eBay, and the drawings show a flat-top longbell 3 chime whistle, mounted behind the grille above the headlight. There's also a photo in The Hiawatha Story where you can just make out the whistle reflecting off the sunlight.

@@BalticFilms144 Interesting. Could it be possible that they were built with long bell 3 chimes and then later had the whistle swapped by an engineer or possibly the railroad itself? I mean, technically anything is possible, so I guess I should ask is it probable?
@BalticFilms1448 ай бұрын
@That_One_Guy_In_A_Band In the age where crews were pooled, whistle swapping was over, especially when several classes on the roster shared the same whistles. Most freight and passenger locomotives wore the 6 chime, some with 5 chimes. The F6s and S class Northerns had the "screech" 3 chime. F6A's were fitted with a Hancock shortbell 3 chime, leaving the F7s as the only ones with the longbells. Being where they were, there wasn't super immediate access, and I'm sure by the time the F7s were fitted with Mars lights, the whistles were either repositioned or removed altogether in favor of the air horns, though the drawings look like there's still some space.
