It lost character. Royal enfields supposed to have a certain character and feel. It should be a throwback to an era where motorcycle styling mattered. That is what it lost in the new Himalayan, by trying to look modern. I hope they go down that route for any other model.

I would take the new Zero S over the LW as it has a larger battery and longer range for less money. Take a look and then decide for yourself.
@NemoEUC5 күн бұрын
@@tl2913 I had an S, the LW has twice the power, less weight, much better handling. Real world range is about a 30 mile deference. I choose the LW over the S.

I was going to say as much ;) well put.

#1 I’m glad there are options! For me the weight is a HUGE difference. It is almost 60 lbs heavier and you feel ever pound. LW has a much more powerful motor (about double) the zero and you totally feel it in the power to weight catagory. But, again it is great there are options in this category of motorcyle. Thanks for your thoughts/inputs!

There's no way I could substantiate a "$15,000 motorcycle" particularly with a limited range in the foothills of Virginia; wouldn't be able to ride it anywhere....my GSXr-750 was barely $10,000 new and I bought a Speed Twin 1200 when they were selling for $9,999. The fuel is available everywhere for the small fleet of bikes that I own and on the e-bike when it is battery replacement time 😢 sadly most of us can't risk it, not enough disposable income to take the gamble.
@MCCJustMotos6 күн бұрын
I feel ya..and I was lucky enough to not have to risk it. I had/have othet bikes that have more range. That being said here is the thing…99.8% of riders ride less then 90 miles on 98% of average trips. If you know where to look (even in the foothills of Va) there are TONS of level 2 chargers. Campground all have 220V..etc. most states combined with Livewire rebates means this bike can be had new for about $13K. Granted about the same price for liter bikes and less than most of the cheapest new Harley’s. Kicker is it costs me about $1 every 100 miles…maybe $1.05 if you factor yearly maintaince. If your honest, any gas bike getting 40-50 miles per gallon (including my bikes) costs about $20+ per 100 miles. Harley livewire battery is supposed to last about 10 years…(5 year full warranty). MOST gas motors can do about 10 years too before a $4000-$8000 rebuild. Same as a battery pack, but in 10 years those battery packs will probably be $250-$500. So, there ya go..just being honest. Would it be my only bike? No, I need a super long distance bike for my 500+ mile a day rides and off-road rides, but it is my primary bike.

@MCCJustMotos thanks Andy. I like how you think. We old-timers who are in our mid-70's (74) are "late to the party" and hesitant to admit that this level of performance is nothing short of incredible I am sure.

Hi just finished your vid very informative A quick side note for the charging port is that I have fitted a charging cable into the socket and ran it through the back of the compartment then up to join the harness and onto the front of the bike under the tank which can connect to your phone on a cradle and when not in use there is a small hole at the front left hand side of the frame where you can tuck the cable into Thanks Dave

You got an AMF built HD when quality was the lowest of the low. I had a 86 Sportster after AMF sold back to HD. I had 45k miles on it when I sold it with zero issues. Currently have a 2004 1200C Sporters I converted into a semi bobber. Zero issues with almost 50k miles on it now. Bottom line all my HDs were solid and trouble free.

got a 2000 sabre. Red with the black flames. Often forget to choke it on first start up. first cruiser, but second bike, coming from an 07 zx6r. love the comfort, snaps nicely off the line i usually cruise at 80 on the highway with plenty on reserve for passing. put a tach on mine cause i kept hitting the limiter in first. Released she doesn't like to be put in 5th unless i'm doing at least 62. Bike came with risers, so really happy about that and slow speed maneuvering is awesome ans lane splitting is relaxing to say the least. Coming up on time for a service i've managed to put 20k miles on her since i got her. I've found that if i short shift during hard acceleration there's a brief skip where she revs freely before the gear seems to pick up. still trying to figure out if thats something i need to worry about.

Sounds like your enjoying it. A few things seem to maybe need to be looked at, Perhaps new clutch springs/pack or clutch adjustment?
@sunilbose175314 күн бұрын
I think it may be wayy more of a sensible decision than it appears at first. The new Himalayan is a better bike for riding in the high altitude 17000 feet mountains of the himalays- increased survivability, better torque profile for managing the roads there and I believe tubeless tires ? (you don't want touncture there). So it is understandable if it doesn't meet the riding profile you have, You can check out other ways the Himalayan is ridden here- kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaCbkH2YZ72ArKc
@MCCJustMotos14 күн бұрын
@@sunilbose1753 The New Himi is really good in many different ways. I will say it definitely does not have the down low torque of the 411cc, but let’s be honest neithet bike will have good power at 17000 feet 😆 lol. Cheers and good thoughts!
@sunilbose175314 күн бұрын
@@MCCJustMotos yes, that way I don't think Indian bikes in general have power- Indian riders can rarely expect to drive fast or hard on Indian roads. It will manage the roads in the Himalayas better. Off road of 'broken pathways' it will manage. These are the typical road profiles of the region. Beyond that one's better off buying a true off roader.

The gear changes are not very smooth. I find this bike pulls really well and the gear changes are so smooth when manually using the clutch. There's a bit of play in the throttle which I've found on the 2 bikes I've had. Just a case of getting used to it. Can't fault this bike for the price point. Compared to the Triumph 660, the build quality is much better. Great for long rides and if you are gentle with the throttle, not too bad on fuel
@MCCJustMotos17 күн бұрын
@@rwalton159 Very interesting thoughts. You are right in the abruptness in eclutch shifting. I like the firmness of the shifts and felt to nice, but for sure not as smooth as a manual clutch shifting. The low speed throttle mapping was snatchy in first gear to me.
