This reminds me when I was mountain biking with my dad and he was wearing a pink jersey. I was a little embarrassed. But retro is generally in fashion, so the return of color is coming soon.

Those were such exciting times. The birth of a brand new sport. Early DH was more about speed than chunk. (Look where their seats are !) Tomac, as always, was amazing.

Modern XC races are harder as are mountain bike parks. The bars are so narrow, the next 6-7 years had some crazy cool DH tech as the sport progressed.

Back then, because technical courses were too hard on bikes, they tried to make it more like Alpine skiing downhills; based on pure speed. There were some more technical courses, but they only became more common as the technology improved. P.S., I remember Regina Stiefl as a German downhiller from World Cup skiing. Sometimes I forget that she went into mountain biking after her WC career.

BTW... Regina Stiefl is aunt of famous biathlete Laura Dahlmeier. Both from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria.
