Just realized how much this song sounds and feels like an updated "Cherry Bomb" for the 90s. A direct lineage.

It’s good they cut James’ whole, “we’re taking a big risk here”, with this clip. Please! Bish please.

Old age set in..even ancient Joan couldn't make this song listenable. Singers rebel days are now stressed mommy days...

I'm a huge Metallica fan, especially KTA. I'm also the steadicam operator that had the privilege to operate such an incredible tribute (sorry about, you know, being in your shot for a good chunk of that...) Even though this was years ago now I still think about it often and have to pinch myself to make sure I didn't dream up the whole thing. Couldn't be more grateful to have been so close to the magic

Patti has always held some type of seething sensuality to me. I've never been a huge fan, but I've listened to Easter enough times to get me sent to hell and back (although I believe it's made me a stronger Christian).

This makes me so happy every time I watch it. You know never ever ever gets the spotlight? The bass viol. Never the spotlight, never the packed house of screaming fans, never the duet with an idol. That dude is all of us, and it just makes it feel so damn triumphant. I want everyone to be that man for one night in their life. At least I want to feel that, just once. Watching it happen to him makes me feel so damn good. And, of course, completely nailed it. Just a goddam perfect performance.

Yes truly. There are some phenomenal double bass soloists (Mikyung Sung for one) who get basically zero attention and rarely ever get the chance to perform solos with orchestras, let alone for an audience of millions. Scott did a great job, and this opportunity did a great service to awareness of the instrument. (Even if, being amplified, it sounds kind of janky compared to the beauty and range of colors and expression a natural double bass is capable of.)

Watching his hands quiver while playing slowly and building to the bridge. I can't imagine the nerves that were running through him at that moment. This was probably one of the most beautiful musical tributes ever. Hands down. It was beautiful.

I've watched / listened to this about 500 times now. The more I listen to it, the more I believe that Cliff was reincarnated and took over Scott Pingel's body for six epic minutes to play this most amazing solo. I still can't listen to this without choking up a little every time, but I will continue listening to this daily. RIP Cliff, and thank you Scott Pingel. You are a musical GOD my friend!
