Hi, I really liked your three videos on the Gr131. I found you here on YT because I am planning to do the Gr131 by myself during the first weeks of April 24. I am interested in what was the longest episode during the GR131 you had to cover without a food supply. So what was the maximum of days in nutrition you had to cover in your backpack? Thanks for showing us your journey!

I really enjoyed watching your video. Videos like yours have inspired me to hike La Gomera and I was wondering if you would recommend this hike without prior hiking experience. It will be a challenge for sure, but I want to challenge myself. I'm 26 and I run regularly

Awesome video!! Did you climb to the peak of mountain Tiede with a permission? I am planning to climb it but seems hard to get a permit, and I plan to follow the route “EI Portillo-Montana Blanca-La Fortaleza”, do you know is this route free? And could you please share your route if possible, many thanks!❤❤

There are many beautiful places in the Canary Islands, are you planning to return? So far I have only visited La Gomera and partly Tenerife. I think the nicest part of Tenerife is Anaga in the north-east. The northwest is also nice, but I've only been there by car. And from La Gomera, Agulo and the trail in the almost perpendicular cliff right above it is amazing.

Amazing effort to do so much of the 131 in such a short amount of time, I managed the La Palma stretch early this year and that was plenty tough

Thanks! 😊 It was really rewarding experiencing so much through a month. 👌 I believe you that La Palma was tough! Such a steep and long climb from start at sea level. Well done! 👏 Stopped me on my journey, but would like to go back.

Great videos, I'm planning a jan trip but i only have 11 days from landing to take off. Would you have any suggestions as to which island to start with with along the whole route for those days? I'm thinking Gran Canaria - Tenerife or possibly Tenerife - La Gomera? Thanks 👍

Thanks! 😊 I guess you both arrive and depart from Tenerife, since Tenerife is in both of your alternatives. With regard to days, I would suggest using at least 3 days to hike across La Gomera, 5 across Tenerife and 4 across Gran Canaria, plus eventual resting days. The main issue is the long ferry trips back and forth between the islands and how the timing of the ferry schedule plays along with when you finish an island. You might find that you arrive too late for the last ferry of the day, and so on. For the best experience I would suggest focusing on Tenerife and La Gomera. You will have more diverse lanscapes and nature, while also being able to see the magnificent El Teide Volcano from La Gomera. La Gomera has some beautiful evergreen forests packed with songbirds (best experienced during dawn), and feels totally different than Tenerife. Hiking up El Teide Volcano on Tenerife is also unforgettable, but is optional for the hike across Tenerife. There are access restrictions to the top of the volcano. If you want to be at the top after 9 AM in the morning (when the first cable car arrive), you need to have acquired a permit way in advance. Before 9 AM it is not required to my recollection. Gran Canaria also got some great trails (especially at the Agaete end), but does not feel that different from Tenerife. Hope that helps! 😊

hi, I am planning to take GR 31 in 1 week. I am planning to cross the island. I wonder whether it would be possible to find places after having walked 20-25 km in a day. Mainly I see people recommend Airbnb

Hi, not sure if you are referring to Lanzarote or Fuerteventura, but I can tell something about each. In general I used booking.com app for finding accomodation. I'm sure Airbnb could work aswell. Then used Google Maps for finding convenience stores, smaller shops along the route, restaurants along the route, and atms. If you start at Orzola in the north of Lanzarote, I would recommend a stay in the town Famara. Its got a quite popular beach, but is slightly off track. About 21-24 km from Orzola. From there you can reach city of Tias and Playa Blanca the next two nights. So possible to hike Lanzarote in three days, but probably more enjoyable in four. Fuerteventura is possible to do in five days, but again more comfortable/enjoyable in 6+. You will pass many small towns with some accomodation along the way, so should not be a big issue if you book a bit in advance. Would recommend a stay in surfers paradise at La Pared and see the beautiful sunset from there. ✌️ Be aware that the coast south from Costa Calma mostly got expensive hotels and resorts. Especially during holiday season will be expensive here. Best of luck! 😊

How many days guys ? :)) You did it in january?

Hi, it took us four long days during january 2023, from La Esperanza to Arona. But would suggest to have one or two additional days at disposal for the trip. Be aware that the volcano El Teide occasionally receive snow during winter leading to trail closures.

Hallo Daniel, I' m interested in hiking Gr 131 in Fuerteventura. Did you cooking there with Gas or Spirtus liquid? And where can I get it in Fuerteventura, maby you know? Cheers 😊

Hi, since use of gas stoves is prohibited in many parts of the Canary Islands (because of risk of fires) I ended up not bringing any. Did some cold soaking, but mostly bought dinner in towns along the way, and bought bread, salami, snack and water at tiny convenience shops. If you go for gas, I suggest calling some sport shops in Corralejo or Puerto del Rosario to be sure. Hope that helps 😊

Great video Daniel.. I hiked the GR131 Fuertuventura a couple of years ago in December .. A experience that will stay with me for life ...I found some sections quite tough but the wilderness is at times breath taking !!

Thanks! 😊 Yeah, the hot and dry desert-like landscape can sure be punishing. But also so rewarding when the windy pre-dawn quiets down and the rolling landscape gets painted by the early rays of light 🤩

Great Video, thank you very much for all the information! Just a quick question, did you find any water at La Caldera? There is conflicting information about this subject.. Thanks for your help!
@HikingDawntillDusk
@HikingDawntillDusk 7 ай бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late answer! Yes you can find water at the camping spot La Caldera. It is near the recreativity zone, down at the open grass field. Might be marked "non potabile" and would be wise to treat it before drinking. Also, be aware that some trails might be closed because of the big forest fire in the area earlier in August!
