Hi Paul, It depends on the tourguide if the would allow it. For us we were only allowed to use the guide's flashlight. 😅

Just rent a car from puerto princessa, I drive it for 4 hours and I’m not limited of what I’m doing and I go/ do everything what I want.

What’s the best way to El Nido from the airport? Is it better to take a van or this bus from the Airport?

It depends on which you would prefer. Van Pros: faster travel time to el nido, 5-6 hours travel time, available at the airport Cons: price varies, expensive, some vans would try to fit 14 people, if you are tall (l'm just 5'10") you won't have space to stretch. uncomfortable. Bus: Pros: Wider seat space, cheaper, the bus we rode has it's own comfort room Cons: 6 - 9 hours travel time, limited bus trip schedule

Palawan has honest pricing with the tour sites. Though you may be right about transportation (trycicle / tour guide rides especially the one who stop beside you and try to offer you a special price lol). It doesn't just apply only to foreigners but also for us if we're not locals from the place. 😓
